Ryan Timothy Tannehill III, popularly known as Ryan Tannehill, is an active American Football quarterback. Currently, he plays the quarterback position for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. The Miami Dolphins selected him eighth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Before his selection by the Dolphins, Tannehill used to play college football at Texas A&M and until his junior year, he played as a wide receiver.

Tannehill started his professional football career with the Miami Dolphins. He was the Dolphins’ primary starter for his initial seven seasons. He was traded to the Tennessee Titans in 2019. He started off his season with the Titans as a backup but midway through the season, he became the starter. He led the Titans squad to the AFC Championship Game. Ryan Tannehill Early Life

Tannehill was born in Lubbock, Texas on 27 July 1988. His parents Cheryl and Tim Tannehill raised him and his younger brother in nearby Big Spring. He attended the Big Spring High School where he used to play football and basketball and he was a part of the track and field team.

During his sophomore season, Tannehill played as a defensive back for 10 games. In his junior season, he was positioned as a quarterback and recorded 2,510 passing yards and rushed for 922. In his senior year, he led his team to the playoffs and recorded passing for 1,258 yards, rushed for another 617 and had three receptions for 62 yards. For both his junior and senior seasons, he secured second-team District 4-4A honors.

In track and field, he participated in jumping and hurdling events. At the 2006 District 4-4A Championship, he secured third place in the 300m hurdles and second place in the triple jump event.

College Career:

2007 Season: Tannehill received offers from the University of Houston, Tulsa, UTEP and TCU. He turned down the offers and decided to go for Texas A&M. He redshirted his 2007 season at Texas A&M.

2008 Season: In summer camp, he competed for the starting quarterback position but he ended up in third place behind Jerrod Johnson and Stephen McGee. Head Coach Mike Sherman placed Tannehill as the wide receiver. In the fifth game, he set a new freshman school record of 210 yards on 12 catches. He concluded his redshirt freshman season with 844 receiving yards. For the complete season, he only attempted one pass as a quarterback.

2009 Season: During the 2009 offseason, he lost the starting quarterback position to Jarod Johnson. For the entire season, Tannehill got the opportunity to play as a quarterback in only eight matches. He recorded a team-leading 46 receptions for 609 yards and a total of four touchdowns. For his performance, he received the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Honors.

2010 Season: For the first six games, he played as a wide receiver and recorded 11 catches for 143 yards.
