Ashante Adonis : A Brief Biography

Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis (real name - Tehuti Miles) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE where he works on the Friday Night SmackDown.

Early Life

Ashante Adonis was born in Hammonton, New Jersey on January 1, 1990. At the age of 18, he enlisted himself for the US Army and served his nation from that year. During his service, Adonis also spent time in a combat tour to Afghanistan. Following his army career, Adonis attended The University of Maryland and played Divison 1 American football as a Running Back.

Wrestling Career

ROH (2018-2019)

Ashante Adonis visited Maryland Championship Wrestling to do his training and, in 2018, he signed a contract with Ring of Honor. During his time in the ROH, Adonis most prominently featured on the card of G1 Supercard tour in 2019.

WWE (2019-Present)

Adonis made his WWE debut on the April 1, 2019 episode of RAW under the ring name Elijah King. He teamed up with another wrestler named Brandon Scott to take on Braun Strowman, where they lost badly to The Monster Among Men. The next month, he made his debut on WWE”s previous programming 205 Live.

He lost to Tyler Breeze in May 2023 in his debut match. In October 2020, his ring name was changed to his current name - Ashante “Thee” Adonis. During the meantime, he also appeared on Friday Night SmackDown including a brief rivalry against The Brian Kendrick, which he lost in September 2020. Adonis then went to NXT.

On May 18, 2021 episode of NXT, Adonis formed a new group alongside Isaiah Scott, Top Dolla and B-Fab named Hit Row. Hit Row was drafted to SmackDown at the 2021 WWE Draft held in October of that month. However, just a month later, on November 4, B-Fab was released by WWE followed by the rest of Hit Row being fired just two weeks later for the reasons of budget cuts amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hit Row was re-signed by WWE about a year later. On the August 12, 2022, episode of SmackDown, the group made a surprise return. However, only three superstars made their return, i.e., Top Dolla, Ashante Adonis, and B-Fab. This was because Isaiah Scott had already joined AEW and he worked there under the ring name Swerve Strickland.

In December, Adonis and Dolla defeated The Viking Raiders and Legado Del Fantasma to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. The next week, they failed to beat The Usos for the title. Top Dolla had a brief feud with Ricochet at the beginning of 2023. Adonis and Dolla were once again drafted to SmackDown in the 2023 WWE draft.
