David Michael Bautista Jr. is an American actor and retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his work with WWE as Batista. He is a former World Champion.
Professional Wrestling Career
WWE (2000-2010, 2014, 2018-2019)
Early Years (2000-2003)
Before signing with WWE, Bautista worked at WCW Power Plant and World Xtreme Wrestling. In 2000, he began working with OVW. A few months later, he moved to SmackDown. In 2002, he appeared on SmackDown as Decan Batista, an enforcer to Reverend D-Von. Batista had several matches before turning on D-Von. In 2003, he was drafted to RAW.
Evolution (2003-2005)
In 2003, Batista along with Ric Flair and Randy Orton joined Evolution. They assisted Triple to retain his World Heavyweight Championship on several occasions. Batista won the World Tag Team Championship with Ric Flair on two different occasions.
After Randy Orton won the World Heavyweight Championship, Batista, Flair, and Triple H attacked Orton and removed him from the group. After feuding with Orton, Batista became popular and began distancing himself from the group.
In 2005, Batista won the Royal Rumble match. On RAW, Batista attacked Triple H and began his feud. At WrestleMania XXI, Batista defeated Triple H to win the World Heavyweight Championship. After Mania, Batista feuded with Triple H for months before moving to SmackDown.
World Heavyweight Champion (2005-2008)
Batista became the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion on SmackDown. He defeated the likes of JBL, Christian, Randy Orton, Eddie Guerrero, Mark Henry, and Kurt Angle before relinquishing the title because of an injury. Batista won the WWE Tag Team Championships from MNM with Rey Mysterio before his injury.
In 2006, Batista returned and began feuding with Booker T. At SummerSlam, Batista defeated Booker T by disqualification. At Survivor Series, he defeated Booker T to win his second World Heavyweight Championship. At WrestleMania XXIII, Batista lost the title to The Undertaker. In 2007, Batista began his feud with The Undertaker but failed to recapture the title.
After Edge was injured, Batista began feuding with The Great Khali for the World Heavyweight Championship. At Unforgiven, Batista won his third World Heavyweight Championship. At Judgement Day, Batista lost the title to Edge. At WrestleMania XXIV, Batista defeated Umaga. In 2008, Batista was drafted to RAW.
In the summer of 2008, Batista and Cena began their rivalry. Batista and Cena won the World Tag Team Championship from The Legacy. At SummerSlam, Batista defeated John Cena. At Cyber Sunday, Batista won his fourth World Heavyweight Championship. However, he lost it to Chris Jericho on RAW.
WWE Champion and Departure (2009-2010)
In 2009, Batista was injured and missed WrestleMania XXV. After Mania, Batista returned to RAW and began feuding with The Legacy. At Extreme Rules, Batista defeated Randy Orton in a steel cage match to win his first WWE Championship. However, he relinquished the title and took some time off.
In September, Batista returned and was drafted to SmackDown. At Bragging Rights, Batista failed to capture the World Heavyweight Championship and turned heel. He began feuding with Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker and lost. In 2010, he entered the Royal Rumble and failed to win the match.
After Royal Rumble, Batista went to RAW and began feuding with John Cena. At Elimination Chamber, he attacked Cena and defeated him to win his second WWE Championship. At WrestleMania 26, he lost the title to John Cena. Batista feuded with Cena for the next few months before leaving the company.
Second Return (2014)
In 2014, Batista returned to WWE and won the Royal Rumble match. At WrestleMania XXX, Daniel Bryan defeated Batista and Randy Orton. After Mania, Batista, and Orton reunited with Triple H to reform Evolution. Evolution faced The Shield at Payback and Extreme Rules but lost. On RAW, Batista quit the stable and left the stable.
Third Return (2018-2019)
On SmackDown's 1000 Episode, Batista made a return and teased a match with Triple H. In March, Batista returned and attacked Ric Flair and issued a challenge to Triple H. At WrestleMania 35, Triple H defeated Batista.
