Tennis legend Bjorn Rune Borg was the first male player in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam titles. He won them between 1974 and 1981. Borg was the first professional male player to compete in six consecutive Wimbledon finals, winning five of them. He also won three-year end championships and was the only man to achieve the Channel Slam thrice.

He started playing tennis at a very young age, and by the time he turned 13, he was beating Sweden's top U18 players. Borg represented his country in the 1972 Davis Cup when he was 15 and won his debut match against Onny Parun. He turned professional in 1973 and reached the fourth round on his main draw debut at a major, the French Open.

He was the captain of the Sweden team at the Davis Cup and helped the country to lift its first Davis Cup trophy.
