Chad Gable: A Brief Biography

Charles Betts is an American professional wrestler, and athlete signed with WWE. He is a former RAW, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Champion.

Professional Wrestling Career

WWE (2013-Present)

Early Years (2013-2015)

At the end of 2013, WWE signed Betts and sent him to the developmental brand. He began training and working in NXT and changed his name to Chad Gable. They used gable as an enhancement talent during his early years.

American Alpha (2015-2017)

In 2015, Gable persuaded Jason Jordan to form a team. The duo was impressive and put an excellent showcase throughout the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. After the tournament, the duo went by the name, American Alpha.

At TakeOver Dallas, American Alpha defeated The Revival to win the NXT Tag Team Championship. At TakeOver The End, the team lost the title back to The Revival. During the Draft, they moved American Alpha to the main roster and went to SmackDown.

On SmackDown, The Usos turned heel after their loss to the team. The Usos attacked American Alpha and sidelined them out of the tournament. In 2017, they defeated The Wyatt Family to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. In March, they lost the titles to The Usos.

Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Roode (2017-2019)

After Jason Jordan moved to RAW, the team disbanded. Chad Gable formed a team with Shelton Benjamin. The duo spent months as a tag team and challenged The Usos on several occasions but failed to win. After WrestleMania 34, Chad Gable went to RAW.

On RAW, Gable formed a tag team with Bobby Roode. The team entered Survivor Series as captains and lost. In December, Gable and Roode defeated AOP to win the RAW Tag Team Championship. They eventually lost the titles to The Revival and failed to recapture.

Shorty G (2019-2020)

The team disbanded during the draft as Gable moved to SmackDown. Gable entered the King of the Ring tournament, where he lost to Baron Corbin in the finals. The feud continued between the two and Gable's name was changed to Shorty G. Shorty had an unsuccessful run where he lost most of his matches.

Alpha Academy (2020-Present)

After being frustrated with the losses, Betts reverted to Chad Gable from Shorty G. Gable recruited Otis and began working as a tag team called Alpha Academy. During the Draft, they drafted the team to RAW. In 2022, Alpha Academy defeated RK-BRO to win the RAW Tag Team Championship. In March, they lost the titles back to RK-BRO. At WrestleMania 38, the team lost to RK-BRO.
