Chez Reavie's Early Life and Background

Professional golfer William Chesney Reavie, aka Chez, was born in Wichita, Kansas, on November 12, 1981. He went to Mesa, Arizona's Dobson High School.

Chez Reavie's Amateur Career

Reavie attended Arizona State University from 2000 to 2004, then returned years later to earn his B.I.S. in Political Science/Sociology in 2010. During his college years, he won the 2001 US Amateur Public Links.

Chez Reavie's Professional Career

After going professional in 2004, Reavie participated in the Nationwide Tour from 2005 to 2007, winning once at the 2007 Knoxville Open. In the same season, he finished 18th on the money list, earning his PGA Tour card. In 2008, he won his first-ever PGA Tour title in July at the 2008 RBC Canadian Open, earning him a two-year exemption to play on the Tour.

Reavie was sidelined in 2010 by knee surgery, and he started the 2011 season on a major medical extension, needing to win 13 events to maintain his Tour Card. Reavie's earnings were insufficient to maintain full tour privileges; nevertheless, he was granted conditional status for the remainder of 2011 simply by making the cut at the 2011 Memorial Tournament, which marked the last event of his exemption.

Reavie nevertheless made it through to play in 22 tournaments, making 15 cuts, and finishing well enough to secure a position in the FedEx Cup playoffs. His pre-FedEx Cup earnings of more than a million dollars guaranteed him a spot on the 2012 Tour.

Following a dull 2012 season in which he placed 135th on the money list, Reavie returned to Q School in an attempt to earn a spot on the PGA Tour. He was among the final players to qualify for the PGA Tour via Q School, finishing T22. Reavie missed the 2013–14 season due to surgery on his left wrist. For the 2014–15 season, he received 24 starts in order to fulfill a medical extension.

At the 2015 Small Business Connection Championship, Reavie won his first championship in seven years and his second on the Web.com Tour. Regardless of how he fared in the remaining five starts of his medical extension, he was totally exempt for the 2015–16 season after finishing atop the Finals money list.

At the Waste Management Phoenix Open in January 2018, Reavie faced Gary Woodland in a sudden-death playoff with the hopes of breaking a 10-year winless streak on the PGA Tour. After Woodland shot a solid final round, Reavie had to birdie the 17th and 18th holes to force a playoff after leading for most of the final round, ultimately losing by one stroke on the first extra hole.

Reavie tied for third place in the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California, in June 2019. Not only was this Reavie's greatest finish in a major tournament, but it was also his first time finishing in the top 10.

After nearly eleven years without a victory on the PGA Tour, Reavie finally ended his drought on June 23, 2019, at the Travelers Championship. He led the 54-hole field by six shots. Keegan Bradley pursued him and he only had a one-shot lead as they walked up the 17th hole. Bradley shot a double-bogey six, but Reavie birdied the hole to complete a four-stroke victory.

His third PGA Tour victory came in July 2022, at the Barracuda Championship, which is co-sanctioned by the European Tour. He defeated Alex Noren by one point with a total score of 43; it is played in a modified Stableford format that differs from standard stroke play.
