Chris Kirk is a professional golfing star who hails from Tennessee, the United States. Chris was born to Gary and Kim Kirk in Knoxville, on May 8, 1985. He grew up primarily in Woodstock, Georgia. Chris is a fantastic golfer who has amassed a sizable wealth throughout his career. In 2015, Kirk attained a career-high of rank 16 globally after finishing second in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Between 2011 and 2015, he claimed four PGA Tour victories. His most recent triumph came at the Honda Classic Tournament in early 2023, snapping a nearly eight-year winless streak.

Chris went to the University of Georgia in Athens. He represented the USA in the 2006 Eisenhower Trophy. Additionally, Chris won the 2007 Ben Hogan Award and immediately went pro.

Chris Kirk’s Professional Career

Chris turned pro after the 2007 Walker Cup. He took part in three seasons of the Nationwide Tour between 2008 and 2010. Chris was runner-up in the 2008 Knoxville Open, unfortunately losing to Jarrod Lyle in a playoff. However, Chris had an immensely successful season in 2010. He achieved second place in the BMW Charity Pro-Am Tournament. In June 2010, Chris won the Fort Smith Classic, his first-ever Nationwide Tour Title, and followed by his second sensational win at the Knoxville News Sentinel Open in August. Despite missing the end of the season with a wrist injury, Chris finished the season in second place on the Nationwide Tour money list, earning his 2011 PGA Tour card.

Chris Kirk tied for second place with the legendary Phil Mickelson at the Shell Houston Open during his PGA Tour rookie season in 2011. The Viking Classic (2011) was the first tour event that he won. Chris qualified for the PGA Championship finishing a stroke ahead of Tom Pernice Jr. and George McNeil. Chris finished his rookie year with four top-10 finishes and maintained his card for 2012 by placing 42nd overall.

His victories at the Deutsche Bank Championship in 2014 and the McGladrey Classic in 2013 propelled him to the top of the FedEx Cup Rankings. In 2015, he captured his fourth PGA Tour victory at the Crowne Plaza Invitational Tournament at Colonial while ranked 16th globally.

However, in early 2019, Chris took an indefinite break from golf to battle alcoholism and depression. He later returned at the end of the year to continue with the game. In 2023, he emerged as a prominent figure when he secured victory at The Honda Classic Tournament.

His most phenomenal win was in 2015, at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, where he shot 65-66 over the weekend to finish one stroke ahead of Jason Bohn, Brandt Snedeker, and Jordan Spieth. Chris holed an almost 2 m putt for par on the final green to claim his victory and consequently reached a career-high of 16th in the world rankings. Unfortunately, soon after this victory, Chris injured his wrist but returned for the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Chris had a fair bit of success in 2016. He reached the quarter-finals of the WGC Dell Match Play before losing to an in-form Rory Mcllroy, and later in October, he was a joint-runner-up in the Sanderson Farms Championship. 2017 was his worst season on the PGA tour, finishing 92nd in the FedEx Cup. In 2019, the golfer took a short break due to personal issues but made a comeback in 2023, winning the Honda Classic in a playoff over Eric Cole.
