Russian professional tennis player Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev has held the No. 1 spot in singles for a total of 16 weeks and is ranked No. 5 by the ATP, as of August 2024. He has won 20 singles titles on the ATP Tour, including the 2021 US Open and the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals. In the 2021 US Open, Medvedev denied Novak Djokovic the Calendar Slam, defeating him in straight sets in the final. Additionally, Medvedev has won six Masters titles. Daniil Medvedev, a Moscow native, was encouraged to take up tennis by his father. Besides sports, Medvedev’s other early pursuits were harpsichord and guitar classes.
