Dexter Lumis

Samuel Robert Shaw is an American professional wrestler signed with WWE. He is best known for his work with WWE as Dexter Lumis. He worked in NXT until April 2022. He made his return to the comapny on July and has been working for RAW brand.

Personal Life

Samuel Shaw was born on 17th January, 1984 in Jacksonville, Florida. Shaw completed his schooling from Allen D. Nease High School in St. Augustine. He graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006. After graduation, he worked for Universal Studios as an illustrator in Orlando. Later, he worked for Riverside Arts Market Drawing situated in Jacksonville.

Professional Wrestling Career

TNA (2010-2015)

Before signing with TNA, Shaw made his wrestling debut in 2009 at Vintage Wrestling. He worked on various independent promotions before appearing on TNA. Shaw's first appearance with the company was in 2010 as an enhancement talent. In 2012, Shaw won Gut Check and got recruited by TNA.

From 2010 to 2013, they used him as an enhancement talent and mid-carder on TNA. He even worked for OVW, TNA's developmental territory for a year. Shaw's major feud came when he started stalking Christy Hemme.

The storyline developed with Shaw turning out to be a stalker. Mr. Anderson came to help Hemme and began his rivalry with Shaw. On Impact, Anderson defeated Shaw in a straightjacket match. The story concluded for a while when Shaw was sent to a psychiatric facility for intervention.

They released Shaw from the facility under Gunner's supervision and reconciled with Hemme and Anderson. A few weeks later, Shaw turned on Gunner by attacking him with a steel chair. The storyline did not progress as the alliance between Brittany and Shaw ended due to their contracts. In 2015, they released Shaw from the company.

Independent Circuit (2015-2019)

After his release, Shaw began wrestling for various independent promotions, such as GFW, NWA, and Vintage Wrestling. In 2019, Shaw signed a deal with WWE.

WWE

NXT (2019-2022)

After signing a deal with WWE, they sent Shaw to NXT, where they repackaged him as Dexter Lumis. He made his debut at the NXT Breakout Tournament but lost to Bronson Reed. His first major feud was with The Undisputed Era. He faced Roderick Strong in a strap match at NXT Great American Bash and won.

After sustaining an injury, he returned to NXT and feuded with Cameron Grimes. At Halloween Havoc, Lumis defeated Grimes in a Haunted House of Terror match. At WarGames, he defeated Grimes in a strap match.

In 2021, he began a love story with Indie Hartwell and feuded with The Way to win her. After trying to win over The Way, Hartwell proposed to Lumis in August. The two had an on-screen marriage on NXT.

On April 29, Lumis was let go by WWE under a mass release. He made his return to the National Wrestling Alliance in June where he wrestled a few matches.

Return To WWE (2022 - Present)

On the July 8th episode of RAW, Lumis made his return to WWE. He was found in the crowd and taken away by the security during the show's main event between AJ Styles and The Miz. For months now, Lumis has been attacking Miz on RAW. On the 17th October edition of RAW, Miz was scheduled to face Lumis and if Dexter won than, he could win a WWE contract. Before the match even started, Miz attacked Lumis and therefore the match did not take place.

Later, Johnny Gargano helped Dexter by exposing Miz's misdeed. He then defeated Miz and earning his WWE contract.
