Eric Bischoff: A Brief Biography
Eric Aaron Bischoff is an American entrepreneur, television producer, professional wrestling booker, podcast host, and on-screen personality best known for his work with WWE, WCW, and TNA. He is a WWE Hall of Famer.
Professional Wrestling Career
WCW (1991-2001)
Before signing with WCW, Bischoff worked with American Wrestling Association for five years. In 1991, Bischoff signed with WCW as a commentator. Two years later, Bischoff became Vice President of Wrestling Operations. In 1994, they promoted him to Senior Vice President and gained direct control of WCW. After launching Nitro and making profits for WCW, Bischoff became the President of World Championship Wrestling. In 1996, Bischoff became an on-screen personality during the nwo storyline.
After feuding with The Outsiders, he joined the stable and turned heel. After years of working with nwo and having ratings war with WWF, Bischoff promoted Kevin Nash as a head booker in 1999. In 1999, Bischoff began focusing on older stars to rebuild WCW, but it didn't work. By the end of the year, Bischoff was relieved of his duties and became an on-screen personality and writer for the show. In 2001, WWF bought the company, and they released Bischoff from the company.
WWE (2002-2007)
In 2002, Bischoff signed with WWE and became the General Manager of RAW. Bischoff spent the next three years as an on-screen personality and was heavily featured on the show. Later, he was involved in a romantic angle with Stephanie McMahon. By the end of his tenure as the GM, he feuded with John Cena. After making several sporadic appearances, they released Bischoff from the company.
TNA (2010-2014)
In 2010, Bischoff joined TNA along with Hulk Hogan and became the General Manager. Apart from being an on-screen personality, he was also a backstage producer. In October, Bischoff turned heel at Bound for Glory and formed The Immortal. Bischoff began feuding with his son after losing control of the organization. In 2012, Team Garrett defeated Team Bischoff. After Lethal Lockdown, Bischoff began working as a producer. In 2014, he left the company after suing it.
Sporadic Appearances (2016-Present)
After working with TNA, he began making sporadic appearances for WWE and AEW.
