Erin Routliffe: A Brief Biography
Erin Routliffe is an aspiring professional tennis player from New Zealand who is ranked No. 1 in doubles by WTA. She recently lifted the title of the 2024 Cincinnati Masters with Asia Muhammed. Her best grand slam accomplishment includes winning the 2023 US Open with Gabriela Dabrowski. The 29-year-old is the second woman after Judy Connor to win a Grand Slam representing New Zealand.
She also finished semifinalist at the 2024 Australian Open and finalist at the 2024 Wimbledon Open with Dabrowski. Routliffe has won seven WTA titles in her career, including the 2024 Nottingham Open with Dabrowski. She and Dabrowski advanced to the final of the 2024 Canadian Open, where they lost to the team of Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk. Routliffe reached the semifinal of the 2023 WTA Finals, where the duo lost to the team of Ellez Perez and Nicole Melichar. The two-time NCAA Champion has played collegiate tennis for the University of Alabama.
Erin Routliffe Early Life
Born in New Zealand, Routliffe also represented Canada from 2009 to 2017. She moved to Montreal to train at the National Training Centre in September 2011. She won her maiden junior singles title at Burlington, Ontario. She won the gold medal at the Canada Summer Games in singles and finished semifinalist at the $25k Challenger de Gatineau. Routliffe lifted her first doubles title at Charleston with Andie Daniell. She competed for New Zealand at the 2017 Fed Cup, defeating the team of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. She won her maiden WTA doubles title at the Palermo Ladies Open with Kimberley Zimmermann.

Catherine MacLennan and Robert Routliffe are proud parents of Erin Routliffe. Both her parents are sailors by profession. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Routliffe’s parents were on a sailing tour around the world when Catherine MacLennan became pregnant. The pair headed to Aotearoa after receiving suggestions from a Kiwi couple aboard. They also have two daughters named Tara Routliffe and Tess Routliffe, the latter being a professional level Para swimmer.
