She is an accomplished singles and doubles player, who won a gold medal in doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside her partner, Sara Errani. They defeated the team of Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider in the final. The 2024 season has been quite successful for Paolini, as she finished as the finalist at the 2024 French Open and the 2024 Wimbledon Open. By reaching the final of the Wimbledon, she became the first woman player from Italy to achieve this feat.

Paolini was introduced to tennis at the age of five by her father and uncle. She shifted to Tirrenia at the age of 15 to hone her tennis skills. During her earlier days, she was trained at the Mira Fiume Tennis Club. She won her maiden junior title at the J4 Wilson ITF Junior Classic in 2013.
