Jinny Sandhu was born on September 28, 1987, in London, England. She was brought up in the Knightsbridge district of The Square Mile. Jinny started watching wrestling at the age of 9, and was heavily influenced by the likes of Lita, Trish Stratus, and Jushin Liger. Her love for pro wrestling eventually inspired her to pursue a career inside the squared circle.
Professional Wrestling Career
Independent Circuit (2015-2019)
Jinny's meteoric rise began in Progress Wrestling. Trained at their Projo school, she became the first female graduate to break onto the scene. Her debut in January 2015 saw her vanquish Pollyanna at ENDVR:8, setting the stage for a string of victories. Toni Storm fell twice, Leva Bates succumbed, and even the formidable duo of Dahlia Black and Dakota Kai tasted defeat against Jinny and Deonna Purrazzo. This momentum translated into tag team success, alongside Marty Scurll, Alex Windsor, and Mercedes Martinez. At Chapter 69, she soared over Toni Storm, capturing the prestigious Progress Women's Championship. Her reign saw a successful title defense against Dakota Kai, but ultimately ended on December 30th when Jordynne Grace claimed the prize.
Beyond Progress Wrestling, Jinny carved her name in various international rings. Her maiden voyage with Pro Wrestling Chaos in 2015 saw her tussle with Leva Bates, while teaming up with Jetta against Sierra Loxton and Melina in 2017. However, Jinny's magic truly sparked when she claimed the inaugural Maiden of Chaos Championship, etching her name as the first warrior queen. Jinny's reign extended beyond Chaos. 2015 also witnessed her crowned the inaugural South Coast Queen Of The Ring, vanquishing Lana Austin. Across the pond, she stepped onto Pro Wrestling EVE soil in 2016, facing off against Jetta, before turning the tide against Emi Sakura in 2017.
Revolution Pro Wrestling became another canvas for Jinny's artistry, with her first brushstroke being a victory over Addy Starr in 2016. She continued to enthrall, defeating Veda Scott in 2017, before etching her name in gold as the inaugural Revpro Women's Champion after conquering Deonna Purrazzo. Jinny's reign saw her successfully defend against Millie McKenzie and Bea Priestley, before Jamie Hayter claimed the crown in 2018. Germany's Westside Xtreme Wrestling also witnessed Jinny's prowess. 2016 saw her debut defeat of Dahlia Black, followed by a taste of the global melting pot in a four-way featuring Shanna and Melanie Gray, ultimately bowing to Alpha Female. Jinny returned in 2017 to vanquish Thunder Rosa, further solidifying her international impact.
WWE (2018-2023)
In April 2017, Jinny competed in WrestleMania 33 Axxess. A year later, WWE signed her and she narrowly missed out on becoming the number one contender for the NXT Women's Championship due to an injury. She then participated in the Mae Young Classic and joined the newly created NXT UK brand, making her debut by attacking Dakota Kai. Jinny competed in the tournament for the inaugural NXT UK Women's Championship but was eliminated by Toni Storm in the semi-finals.
In May 2019, Jinny introduced her intimidating enforcer Jazzy Gabert and set her sights on the NXT UK Women's Championship. Despite some victories over Brookside, Jinny and Gabert failed to overcome the dominant duo of Rhea Ripley and Piper Niven. Their partnership fractured when Jazzy refused to further attack Amale, leaving Jinny to forge her own path in 2020. Notably, she teamed with nemesis Kay Lee Ray for a tag team win that spring.
In late 2020, Jinny resurfaced in NXT UK, ruthlessly asserting her claim on the championship by dominating newcomers and targeting Piper Niven. She disrupted Niven's title match, costing her the victory, and mocked her relentlessly. Their rivalry culminated in a match in 2021, which Jinny won thanks to outside interference from her new ally, Joseph Conners. Despite this advantage, Jinny ultimately lost her own title shot against Kay Lee Ray. Jinny and Conners then teamed up against Niven and Jack Starz, but their alliance faltered and the teams disbanded after losing a mixed tag team match.
After her feud with Niven and Conners, Jinny shifted focus to Aoife Valkyrie, claiming she was hiding. Jinny defeated Valkyrie through interference from Conners, but lost a rematch under no disqualification rules. Though frustrated, she declared victory in their overall battle. Jinny then saw off Isla Dawn and Amale in singles matches before announcing her retirement from wrestling in January 2023 due to an injury. In essence, Jinny continued to be a dominant force in NXT UK, racking up victories over rising stars and veterans alike, until an unfortunate injury forced her to step away from the ring in 2023.
