Jack Perry Pro Wrestling Career
Indies (2015 - 2019)
Launching his career in 2015, Jungle Boy (then known as Nate Coy) debuted at Underground Empire Wrestling's West Coast Cruiser Cup. The name Jungle Boy stuck thanks to the crowd's enthusiastic chants, drawing a connection to Tarzan. Coy's talent shone through, and he claimed victory at the 2016 West Coast Cruiser Cup. He continued to impress, capturing his first championship, the All-Pro Wrestling Junior Heavyweight Championship, in August 2018. This reign ended in June 2019 with a loss to Jake Atlas.
In February 2019, Jungle Boy teamed up with Luchasaurus, forming the unforgettable duo "A Boy and His Dinosaur." May 2019 saw Jungle Boy step into the ring for a special tribute match honouring his late father. In a heartfelt moment, he emerged victorious against his father's friend, actor, and WCW World Heavyweight Champion David Arquette.
All Elite Wrestling (2019 - Present)
Jungle Boy (Jack Perry) signed with AEW in 2019 and quickly became a regular on their shows. He initially competed in singles matches but then formed a successful tag team, Jurassic Express, with Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt. Despite some early losses, Jurassic Express established itself as a fan-favorite team.
Jungle Boy continued to rack up experience in AEW throughout the rest of 2019 and into 2020. He faced off against established stars like Chris Jericho and MJF, though he wasn't able to secure any major victories. However, alongside Luchasaurus, he participated in several tag team matches, including a battle royal opportunity to become the number one contender for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
Jungle Boy's momentum grew in 2021. He and Luchasaurus continued to chase tag team glory in the Casino Tag Team Royale but fell short. However, Jungle Boy's star power shone brightly when he won the Casino Battle Royale, securing a future championship match. Though he couldn't dethrone Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship, Jungle Boy continued to impress alongside Jurassic Express. They aligned with Christian Cage, forming a temporary alliance that culminated in a major victory at Full Gear. Here, they defeated the dominant team of The Young Bucks and Adam Cole in a brutal falls count anywhere match.
Christian Cage Mentors and Betrays Jungle Boy
2022 became a turning point for Jungle Boy. Alongside Luchasaurus, they reached the pinnacle of tag team success in AEW by capturing the World Tag Team Championship in January. Their reign wasn't without challenges, successfully defending the titles against formidable teams like The Young Bucks and reDRagon. However, their momentum shifted at Double or Nothing where they retained the championship in a chaotic three-way match. June 15th marked a significant moment - not only did they lose the titles to The Young Bucks in a brutal ladder match, but Jungle Boy suffered a shocking betrayal by his mentor, Christian Cage.
Single Wrestler as Jack Perry
He lost to Christian Cage at All Out and that defeat was compounded by Luchasaurus siding with Cage. However, Perry persevered. He triumphed over Luchasaurus in a brutal steel cage match at Full Gear, then under his real name Jack Perry, took down members of The Firm alongside Hook. The saga with Christian Cage continued. After a vicious attack reignited their feud, Perry achieved finality with a decisive victory in a brutal "Final Burial" match at Revolution. He then set his sights on the biggest prize in AEW, the World Championship, though falling short in a four-way match at Double or Nothing.
At Forbidden Door in June, Jack Perry shed his past, both in name and character. He challenged for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship under his real name Jack Perry, but ultimately lost. This marked a turning point as he attacked Hook after the match, transforming into a villain for the first time and abandoning the Jungle Boy persona. Perry's newfound aggression led him to victory over Hook at Dynamite: Blood & Guts in July. He captured the FTW Championship, his first singles title, and ended Hook's undefeated streak. However, his reign was short-lived. At All Out Zero Hour in August, Hook defeated Perry, reclaiming the FTW Championship. This match also saw tensions rise between Perry and CM Punk, culminating in a backstage altercation that resulted in Perry's suspension.
Returning to AEW and joining The Elite
After a period of suspension, he re-emerged alongside The Young Bucks in April 2024, assisting them in winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships. His affiliation was further solidified when he arrived with The Elite (including The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada) on Dynamite. The episode concluded with a shocking turn of events, as Perry and The Elite attacked AEW President Tony Khan.
NJPW (2024 - Present)
Jack Perry's ambitions extended beyond AEW in early 2024. He made a surprise debut in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) at Battle in the Valley, attacking Shota Umino and symbolically tearing up his AEW contract. He participated in the prestigious New Japan Cup, defeating Umino in the first round with help from the villainous House of Torture stable. Perry then sided with them, embracing a darker persona.
