Luis Suarez: A Brief Biography

Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz is a Uruguayan football player who plays for FC Barcelona and the Uruguayan national team as a forward. His older brother Paolo Suárez is also a professional footballer He began his career playing with Nacional\'s youth team at the age of 14. Thereafter, he moved to the Netherlands to play for Groningen At age of 19. Suarez transferred to Ajax on a five year contract where Suárez scored 111 goals in 159 appearances. In 2008–09 he was named club Player of the Year. The following year he was named the club captain and was named Dutch Footballer of the Year. He then signed with Liverpool on a five-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him in the club until 2016. Suarez finished the season 2010-11 with four goals in thirteen games and signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool in August 2012. He scored a hat-trick in Liverpool\'s Premier League at Norwich City for the second consecutive season. On the international front, Diaz was selected to play for Uruguay in the qualifying rounds for the 2007 U-20 World Cup. He also played in 19 of 20 games in 2010 World Cup qualifying tournament and the inter-confederation playoffs, scoring five goals in the process. Suárez Díaz has also played for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, 2011 Copa América and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
