Macho Man Randy Savage

Randy Poffo was an American professional wrestler, baseball player, and actor. He was best known for his work with WWF and WCW as Randy Savage. He is a former World Champion and a WWE Hall of Famer.

Professional Wrestling Career

Early Years (1973-1985)

In 1973, Poffo began his wrestling career. Poffo wrestled for several American promotions and faced the likes of Jerry Lawler and The Rock n Roll Express. During his early years, Randy and Larry Poffo wrestled for their father's promotion at IWC. He was called Randy Savage due to his erratic wrestling style.

WWF (1985-1994)

In 1985, Vince McMahon signed Savage and began working for WWF. He choose Miss Elizabeth to be his manager and aided him during matches. In 1986, he won the WWF Intercontinental Championship from Tito Santana. At WrestleMania II, he defeated George Steel to keep his Intercontinental Championship. At WrestleMania III, he lost the title to Ricky Steamboat, which was awarded as the Match of the Year.

In 1987, Savage won the King of the Ring tournament. During an assault by The Hart Foundation, Miss Elizabeth went backstage and called Hogan to help. This led to the birth of The Mega Powers. At WrestleMania IV, Savage entered a tournament and won the WWF Championship by defeating Ted DiBiase in the finals.

At SummerSlam, The Mega Powers defeated The Mega Bucks. The team showed dissension as Savage became jealous of the relationship between Miss Elizabeth and Hulk Hogan. The feud kicked off after Royal Rumble when Savage attacked Hogan and turned heel. At WrestleMania V, Hulk Hogan defeated Randy Savage to win the WWF Championship.

After dropping the title, he changed his character and called himself, King Macho and had several matches with Hogan and Dusty Rhodes. Savage dumped Miss Elizabeth and hired Sensational Sheri as his new manager. In 1991, Savage began his rivalry with Ultimate Warrior. At WrestleMania VII, Savage lost to Ultimate Warrior and Sensational Sheri turned on Savage. Miss Elizabeth attacked Sheri, which led to Savage and Elizabeth reuniting.

Savage took some time off after WrestleMania and announced his retirement. He became a color commentator and had an on-screen wedding at SummerSlam with Miss Elizabeth. After a few months of feuding with Jake Roberts, Savage was reinstated and came out of retirement.

At WrestleMania VIII, Savage defeated Ric Flair to win his second WWF Championship. The Savage-Flair rivalry went on till September, when he dropped the title back to Flair. In 1993, Savage became a full-time color commentator. After over a year as a commentator, Savage left the company in 1994.

WCW (1994-2000)

After joining WCW, Savage reunited with Hulk Hogan and reformed The Mega Powers to face Ric Flair and Vader. In 1995, Savage won his first WCW World Heavyweight Championship in a 60-man three-ring battle royal. At Starrcade, he lost the title to Ric Flair.

In 1996, Savage won his second WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Flair but dropped it back to Flair at SuperBrawl VI. After feuding with Flair, Savage began his feud with the NWO. Hogan and the company attacked Savage frequently during their rivalry. At Halloween Havoc, Hogan defeated Savage. After the show, Savage left WCW for a while as they couldn't come up with a new deal.

In 1997, Savage returned to the company. He turned on Sting and joined NWO. He spent several months with the group and feuded with Diamond Dallas Page. After the feud, Savage beat Sting to win his third WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He lost the title to Hogan and joined Wolfpac with Kevin Nash. Savage took some time off due to his knee injuries.

In 1998, Savage returned with a new look and character. At Bash at the Beach, Savage defeated Nash to win his fourth WCW World Heavyweight Championship. After losing the title, Savage spent some time in random feuds and matches before WWF bought the company.

TNA (2004)

In November, Savage made his debut by defeating AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy. In December, Savage left the company due to creative differences.
