Matthew Wolff’s Early Life and Background

American professional golfer Matthew Brandyn Wolff was born in Simi Valley, California on April 14, 1999, to his parents Shari & Bill and raised in Agoura Hills, California. Wolff also has one younger brother named Eli. He started playing at a local country club when he was just five years old. While attending Westlake High School he played several golf events and won a majority. Later he attended Oklahoma State University where he completed his graduation. Since then, Wolff worked very hard to develop his golfing skills.

Being a very talented golfer since the beginning, Wolff has a great amateur career in golf. During his school days at Westlake High School, he was in 4th place in the nation among juniors. While attending Oklahoma State University, he participated in several golf tournaments. During this time, Wolff won the NCAA Division I Individual Championship (2019) and also became an NCAA All-American. In 2018, he earned the Phil Mickelson Award as the most impressive freshman in Division I men's golf. Besides this, he also won several tournaments which are listed below:

Matthew Wolff’s Professional Career

Wolff turned professional in 2019 and started playing on the PGA Tour. He played on the PGA Tour and has only recently, in 2022, joined LIV Golf. He won one PGA Tour at the 3M Open on 7th July 2019. On 11th October 2020 Wolff reached 12th place in the Official World Golf Ranking, which is his highest ranking as of February 2024. In terms of major tournaments, his performance resulted in the runner-up in the 2020 U.S. Open & T-4 in the 2020 PGA Championship.

Matthew Wolff has been a talented golfer from a very young age and he always tries to improve his skills by participating in several golf events. When he was a student at Westlake High School, he competed in the 2017 U.S. Open Junior Amateur Golf Championship and finished as a runner-up. Later he also earned four runner-ups and became a first-team All-American. Being the nation's top freshman, he won the Phil Mickelson Award in the year 2018.

After being admitted to Oklahoma State University, Wolff concentrated on his skills and performances which resulted in his win at the NCAA Division I Championship (2019). Apart from this, he achieved back-to-back success in other tournaments including Carmel Cup (2018), OFCC Fighting Illini Invitational (2018), The Amer Ari Invitational (2019), Valspar Collegiate (2019) and so on.

Throughout his whole career, Wolff won only one professional tournament in July 2019 at the 3M Open, which was also his first victory on the PGA Tour since he became a pro in 2019. By this victory, he earned around $1,152,000. In 2020, he finished 4th at PGA Championship, which was also his first major championship. In the following year, Matthew earned $817,500 by finishing second at Rocket Mortgage Classic. Later he tied as a runner-up in the 2020 U.S. Open and achieved his second top 5 finish in the major championships. But in 2022, Wolff was suspended from the PGA Tour and then he joined LIV Golf, where he currently plays.
