Qinwen Zheng is one of the highest-ranked tennis players from Asia, both in the ATP and the WTA. She won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics after defeating Donna Vekic in the women's singles final. With the win, she became the first Asian tennis player in either men's or women's category to win a gold medal. As of May 2025, she is ranked No. 8 with a career-high WTA ranking of No. 5 (achieved in November 2024) and has won five WTA singles titles. Her best performance in a Grand Slam was at the 2024 Australian Open. She reached the final before losing to Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.

Qinwen Zheng early life
Born in Shiyan, Hubei Province, China, Zheng grew up at her maternal grandmother's house in Chengdu, Sichuan. She started her tennis journey at the age of seven. When she was eight, Zheng moved to Wuhan to hone her tennis skills. Three years later, she shifted to Beijing to further her skills under the guidance of Carlos Rodriquez. Zheng made her WTA debut at the 2021 Palermo Open, where she registered her first win, defeating Liudmila Samsonova. She registered her first top-20 win (vs. Simona Halep) at the 2022 French Open.
