Razor Ramon: A Brief Biography

Scott Oliver Hall was an American professional wrestler best known for his work with WWE and WCW. He was famously known as Scott Hall in WCW and Razor Ramon in WWE. In March 2022, Scott Hall passed away.

Professional Wrestling Career

Early Years (1984-1992)

In 1984, Hall began his wrestling journey at NWA and CFW. Hall worked for several promotions, such as WWF, NWA, WCW, NJPW, AJPW, and WWC, where he won several singles and tag team titles. Hall worked for WCW on three occasions, the latter being the most famous and recognized one.

WWF (1992-1996)

In 1992, Hall was repackaged as Razor Ramon. Ramon was loosely based on Tony Montana and Manny Ribera from Scarface. Ramon had a savvy Cuban bad guy persona which was loved by many fans. Ramon first feuded with Randy Savage and teamed up with Ric Flair. At WrestleMania IX, Ramon defeated Bob Backlund. In May, Ramon had an upset loss to 1-2-3 Kid which began their feud. At SummerSlam, Ramon defeated Ted DiBiase in his final match for the company.

In 1993, Ramon won his first Intercontinental Championship. Later, Shawn Michaels returned and claimed to be the true Intercontinental Champion. At WrestleMania X, Ramon defeated Michaels in the first-ever ladder match. The match was regarded as the best match of the year. The feud with Michaels continued where he lost the title to Diesel. At SummerSlam, Ramon defeated Diesel to win his second Intercontinental Championship. In 1995, Ramon feuded with Jeff Jarrett, where he lost the title at Royal Rumble.

In May, Ramon defeated Jarrett in a ladder match to win his third Intercontinental Championship. Later that year, Ramon won his fourth Intercontinental Championship by defeating Dean Douglas. In 1996, Ramon was scheduled to face Goldust at WrestleMania but got suspended due to drug abuse. After the MSG Show, The Kliq members broke kayfabe by celebrating and embracing in the ring together as Ramon and Nash left the company.

WCW (1996-2000)

In May, Ramon returned to WCW and claimed to be "an outsider." At Bash at the Beach, Hogan, Nash, and Ramon formed the NWO. At Halloween Havoc, The Outsiders won the WCW World Tag Team Championships. Hall won the WCW Tag Team Championships on seven occasions, defeating teams such as The Steiner Brothers, Harlem Heat, and Sting and Luger. NWO had a major influence on WCW and the world of wrestling. Hall was a tremendous part of the faction.

In 1998, they took Hall off television due to rehab. After his return, he attacked Nash and joined NWO. Hall feuded with Nash until both the factions were merged once again. At Starrcade, Hall dressed as a security guard attacked Goldberg with a stun gun to assist Nash and end Goldberg's undefeated streak. In 1999, he feuded with Goldberg and lost a taser match. Later, he won the WCW United States and Television Championship. Hall's last appearance was at SuperBrawl losing to Sid Vicious.

WWE (2002)

Before returning to WWE, Hall spent a year working for ECW and NJPW. In 2002, Hall, Nash, and Hogan returned to WWE as NWO. The group began targeting the top stars of the company. At WrestleMania XVIII, Austin defeated Hall, and The Rock defeated Hogan. After Mania, Nash, Hall, and X-Pac feuded with The Rock and Hulk Hogan. In May, they released Hall due to the Plane Ride from Hell incident.

Independent Circuit and TNA (2002-2014)

After being released from WWE, Hall worked for several independent promotions, such as WWC and Juggalo. Hall had two brief runs with TNA. In his first run, Hall teamed up with Nash and Syxx to feud with Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, and Ron Killings. During the second run, Hall, Nash, and Syxx formed a stable called The Band. The Band won the TNA World Championship from Matt Morgan. After a few defenses, they stripped The Band of the titles.

WWE (2014-2022)

In 201, they announced Razor Ramon as an inductee in the Hall of Fame. Hall was surrounded by his fellow Kliq members and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hall made sporadic appearances as Scott Hall and Razor Ramon for several shows such as RAW, SmackDown, and WrestleMania. In 2020, they inducted Scott Hall as a member of the NWO. However, they were inducted in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
