Baez is ranked No.21, as per the ATP rankings, and achieved the career-high ranking of No. 18 in June 2024. Although he has tried his hand at doubles, the Argentine is primarily a singles specialist. Baez is coached by Sebastian Gutierrez.

In March 2018, Sebastian Baez became World No.1 in the junior rankings. He also won the Boys’ Doubles gold medal at the Youth Olympics. Although he has yet to win a Grand Slam title as of 2023, Baez has managed a steady rise. He has beaten the likes of Andrey Rublev, Frances Tiafoe, and Dominic Thiem.

The 23-year-old Argentine has won five out of his six titles on clay. Since he does not have the height advantage or the raw power, he uses the slowness of claycourts and his superior movement to his benefit. He has great shot-making ability and has the potential to beat anybody on his day. During the Nitto ATP Finals in 2018, Sebastian was a hitting partner and self-admittedly learned a lot from the experience.
