Stephen Farrelly is an Irish professional wrestler and actor signed with WWE. He is best known for his work with WWE as Sheamus. He is a former World, United States, and Tag Team Champion. He won the 2012 Royal Rumble and 2015 Money in the Bank ladder match.
Personal Life
Stephen Farrelly aka Sheamus was born on 28th January, 1978 in Dublin. He spent his childhood in North Great George's Street in Dublin. He completed his schooling in Scoil Caoimhin Primary and the Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire Secondary School.He was interested in playing football. Sheamus has also worked at Night Club as a security guard.
Sheamus got married to Isabella Revilla in October, 2022 in New York.
Professional Wrestling Career
Early Years (2002-2007)
In 2002, Farrelly began training for his professional wrestling career. Six weeks later, he made his wrestling debut. Unfortunately, he got injured and didn't wrestle for two years. In 2004, Farrelly returned to wrestling and began wrestling for the European independent circuit. After rising to the top and winning several championships on the circuit, Farrelly moved toward WWE.
WWE (2007-Present)
Rise to the Top (2007-2012)
In 2006, Farrelly made a small appearance as a security guard and took a Pedigree from Triple H. In 2007, Farrelly signed with WWE after a successful tryout match. He spent the next two years in FCW, where he won the FCW World Championship. In 2009, he made his ECW debut as Sheamus and won. Sheamus won several matches on ECW before being drafted to RAW.
On RAW, Sheamus quickly rose to prominence by dominating the competition. In December, Sheamus defeated John Cena in a Tables match and became the first-ever Irish WWE Champion. Sheamus feuded with John Cena and Randy Orton before dropping the title at Elimination Chamber.
After losing the title, Sheamus feuded with Triple H. At WrestleMania XXVI, Triple H defeated Sheamus. A month later, Sheamus defeated Triple H and won the feud. At Fatal 4 Way, he won his second WWE Championship. Later, he continued his feud with Randy Orton, where he lost the title to Orton at Night of Champions.
In 2010, Sheamus won the King of the Ring tournament and began feuding with Kofi Kingston and John Morrison. On RAW, Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan to win the United States Championship. During the draft, they drafted Sheamus to SmackDown. At Extreme Rules, Sheamus lost the title to Kofi Kingston in a Tables match.
On SmackDown, Sheamus turned face and spent the year feuding with Mark Henry and Christian. In 2012, Sheamus won the Royal Rumble match. At WrestleMania XXVIII, Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan to win the World Heavyweight Championship. After 210 days, he lost the title to Big Show.
Mid-Card, The League of Nations, and MITB (2013-2015)
In 2013, Sheamus made his return at Royal Rumble but failed to win the match. At WrestleMania XXIX, Sheamus teamed up with Big Show and Orton and lost to The Shield. Later, he feuded with Mark Henry and Damien Sandow before getting injured.
In 2014, Sheamus returned at Royal Rumble but was unsuccessful in winning the match. After Mania, Sheamus won a 20-man battle royal to win his second United States Championship. The reign lasted for over 180 days and was ended by Rusev in November. By the end of the year, Sheamus was injured and took some time off.
In 2015, Sheamus returned after Mania and turned heel. At Money in the Bank, Sheamus won the contract. By the end of the year, Sheamus created a new stable called The League of Nations, which consisted of Bad News Barrett, Rusev, and Alberto Del Rio. At Survivor Series, Sheamus cashed in his contract and became the WWE Champion for the fourth time. On RAW after TLC, Sheamus lost the title to Roman Reigns.
The Bar, Solo Run, and Fight Night (2016-Present)
At WrestleMania 32, The League of Nations defeated The New Day. After Mania, they disbanded the stable. Later, Sheamus began feuding with Cesaro. By the end of the feud, the two formed a tag team called The Bar. At Roadblock, The Bar defeated The New Day for the RAW Tag Team Championship.
The team stayed together for three years where they won the RAW Tag Team Championship on four occasions and SmackDown Tag Team Championship once. At WrestleMania 34, The Bar lost the titles to Braun Strowman and Nicolas. In 2020, Sheamus returned to SmackDown and turned heel.
During the Pandemic Era, Sheamus feuded with Big E and Jeff Hardy on SmackDown. During the draft, Sheamus moved to RAW. In 2021, he turned on McIntyre and feuded with him for months. At WrestleMania 37, he defeated Riddle to win his third United States Championship.
At SummerSlam, Sheamus lost the title to Damien Priest. After going back to SmackDown, Sheamus formed an alliance with Ridge Holland and feuded with Cesaro. At Day 1, Sheamus and Holland defeated Cesaro and Ricochet.
In 2022, Pete Dunne made his SmackDown debut as Butch and aligned with Sheamus and Holland. The trio feuded with The New Day. At WrestleMania 38, Sheamus and Holland defeated Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
At the 29th July 2022 edition of SmackDown, Sheamus was defeated by Drew McIntyre in a brutal match.
Sheamus earned an Intercontinental championship opportunity by winning a Fatal-5 way match on an episode of SmackDown. At Clash at the Castle, Sheamus faced the champion Gunther in a hard-hitting contest that saw Gunther retain the gold.
On the 11th October, 2022 edition of SmackDown, The Brawling Brutes interrupted The Bloodline and attacked them. This led to a four-on-four brawl between the Bloodline and Brawling Brutes with Drew McIntyre.
