Sonya Deville: A Brief Biography

Daria Rae Berenato is an American professional wrestler and mixed martial artist signed with WWE. She is the current General Manager of SmackDown.

Professional Wrestling Career

WWE (2015-Present)

Tough Enough and NXT (2015-2017)

In 2015, Berenato was in the sixth season of Tough Enough. She reached the third place before being eliminated. In October, she signed a deal with the company and began working for NXT. During her time with the company, Berenato changed her name to Sonya Deville. After spending more than a year in NXT, she moved to the main roster.

Mandy Rose (2017-2020)

In November, Deville and Rose went to the main roster and joined Absolution. The trio was involved in various tag team matches and won. The duo entered the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble match and lost. After WrestleMania 34, Absolution was disbanded, but Deville and Rose stayed as a team. The team was called Fire and Desire and worked as a cohesive unit for two years.

In 2019, they entered the Elimination Chamber for the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. At the event, they were the last team before losing to Boss n Hug Connection. They spent their year chasing for tag team and singles gold but were unsuccessful. In 2020, Deville was involved in a storyline between Mandy Rose and Otis. In the storyline, Deville was against Mandy and Otis and tried to interfere in their relationship.

At WrestleMania 36, Otis defeated Dolph Ziggler, and Mandy Rose turned face. However, Rose and Deville continued their feud. At SummerSlam, Mandy Rose defeated Sonya Deville in a loser leaves the WWE match.

General Manager (2021-Present)

In 2021, Deville returned to SmackDown and adopted an on-screen role. She became the general manager of SmackDown, opposite Adam Pierce. In August, she began her feud with Naomi. Deville has been in a handful of matches since adopting her new role. Deville has been taking undue advantage of the role to continue the rivalry between Naomi.
