Stone Cold Steve Austin

Steve Austin is an actor, host, and retired professional wrestler signed with WWE as a Legend. He is best known for his work with WWE as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He is a former 6-time WWF World Champion and is also a WWE Hall of Famer. He is described as the greatest WWE Superstar of all time by Vince McMahon.

Professional Wrestling Career

WCW (1990-1995)

After finishing his training and wrestling for WCCW, CWA, and USWA, Austin joined WCW as "Stunning" Steve Austin. A few weeks after his arrival, he defeated Bobby Eaton to win the WCW World Television Championship. His second reign began after defeating Barry Windham before losing it to Ricky Steamboat.

In 1992, he formed a team with Brian Pillman called The Hollywood Blondes. In 1993, they won the WCW World Tag Team Championship. At Starrcade, Austin defeated Dustin Rhodes to win the WCW United States Championship. In 1995, Austin was injured and was fired by Eric Bischoff for not being marketable enough for the company.

WWF (1995-Present)

The Ringmaster and The Rise of Stone Cold (1995-1999)

Before joining WWF, Austin had a brief run with ECW and failed to win the ECW World Championship against Mikey Whipwreck on two occasions. In late 1995, Austin signed with the company. In 1996, he made his RAW debut as The Ringmaster accompanying Ted DiBiase. However, the gimmick was changed in no time when Austin shaved his head, grew a goatee, and became Stone Cold Steve Austin.

In 1996, he won the King of the Ring tournament by defeating Jake Roberts. The same year, he began one of the best feuds of his career against Bret Hart. At Survivor Series, he lost to Bret Hart. In 1997, Hart eliminated Austin at the rumble. However, the elimination was not counted as the officials didn't notice it. Austin entered and eliminated Hart and won the rumble.

At WrestleMania XIII, Bret Hart defeated Steve Austin in a submission match which was highly acclaimed and received several praises. The Hart-Austin rivalry continued as Austin became a face and Hart turned heel and reunited with The Hart Foundation. At SummerSlam, Steve Austin defeated Owen Hart to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. During the match, Austin suffered a serious neck injury and vacated the championship.

In 1998, Austin won the royal rumble match. At WrestleMania XIV, he defeated Shawn Michaels to win his first WWF Championship. Austin had several memorable rivalries with The Rock, Dude Love, Undertaker, and McMahon during his championship reign. Austin lost the title to Kane in a first blood match. Austin won the title back the next night on RAW and continued his feud with Vince McMahon. During his time with the company, he won the WWF Championship on six different occasions.

Vince McMahon and Last Run (1999-2003)

In 1999, Austin continued his feud with Vince McMahon. Both men entered the rumble and lasted till the end. The Rock distracted Austin, which allowed McMahon to eliminate and win the rumble. At WrestleMania XV, Austin defeated The Rock to win the WWF Championship. After losing the title to The Undertaker, Austin continued his feud with Vince and Shane McMahon for the control of WWF, which he lost.

After being injured before Survivor Series, Austin took some time off to heal his previously injured neck. In 2000, Austin returned at Backlash to take out Vince and Shane McMahon during the WWF Championship match between Triple H and The Rock. Austin feuded with Rikishi, Angle, and Triple H before heading to the royal rumble.

In 2001, Austin became the first superstar to win three royal rumble matches. At WrestleMania XVII, Austin defeated The Rock and turned heel by aligning with Vince McMahon. The next night, Triple H joined Austin to form the Two Man Power Trip, where they held the WWF World, Intercontinental, and Tag Team Championship. The alliance ended when Triple H was taken out due to an injury.

During the Invasion storyline, Team WCW was headed by Austin, and they lost to Team WWF at Survivor Series. At Vengeance, Austin defeated Kurt Angle but lost the unification match to Chris Jericho. In 2002, he entered the royal rumble but lost to Triple H. At WrestleMania XVIII, he defeated Scott Hall from the NWO.

After Mania, Austin publically walked out of the company due to its direction and creative process, not using Austing to a level. In December, McMahon and Austin resolved their issues, which led Austin to return in 2003. At WrestleMania XIX, The Rock defeated Austin. It was Austin's last match as he retired from in-ring competition.

Sporadic Appearances and HOF (2003-Present)

After retiring from the in-ring competition, Austin became the commissioner of RAW. The role lasted for around a year, where he made sporadic appearances by stunning people and making matches. At WrestleMania XX, he was the special guest referee between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

Austin made numerous sporadic appearances on RAW, SmackDown, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble. In 2006, Austin inducted Bret Hart into the Hall of Fame. In 2009, Austin entered the Hall of Fame by Vince McMahon. Austin has a podcast with WWE on WWE Network.

Return for a single match (2022)

During the road to WrestleMania 38, Kevin Owens showed his frustration of organizing the event in Texas, Steve Austin's hometown. He publicly demeaned the state and eventually called out Austin for a talk-show episode at the event. Austin accepted the invitation through a twitter post.

At WrestleMania 38 Saturday, the things heated up between the two and eventually led to a No Holds Barred Match. Austin won the match and retired for the last time. He also made an appearance on WrestleMania Saturday and stunned Theory, Pat McAfee and Vince McMahon.
