Tom Aspinall was born in Greater Manchester, Leigh, England in 1993. Born to a jiu-jitsu coach, Aspinall started training in different forms of combat sports at a young age. He started jiu-jitsu at the age of 7, along with some wrestling and boxing. With time, he focused more on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Later, his father, Andy Aspinall, was given the post of jiu-jitsu instructor at a martial arts academy called Team Kaobon, and that is when Aspinall started transitioning into a complete mixed martial artist.
By age 21, Tom Aspinall made his professional MMA debut against an opponent called Michal Piszczek and won the bout via a first-round technical knockout. The fight took place at MMA versus UK 1 on December 13, 2014, in Manchester, England.
Tom Aspinall was, in fact, given a UFC contract even before he competed in the Cage Warriors promotion. But the English fighter turned down the American offer, thinking that it was not yet time to pursue his dream of fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
