That match was for the empty NXT Title against LA Knight, Tommaso Ciampa, and Pete Dunne, which he lost. On the November 30 episode of NXT, Wagner collaborated with Kyle O'Reilly to win a number-one competitor match in the wake of overcoming Legado del Fantasma, the team of Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde.

At WarGames, Von Wagner and Kyle O'Reilly challenged Imperium, the team of Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel for the NXT Tag Team Title however didn't prevail with regards to bringing home the championship.
