Yadier Benjamin Molina was a professional Major League Baseball player. He is originally from Puerto Rico and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2000 MLB draft. The Cardinals signed him for $325,000. Molina is also known by his nickname ‘Yadi’, especially in Puerto Rico.

Yadier Molina’s Early Life
Yadier Molina was born on 13 July 1982 in Bayamon, Peurto Rico. His parents, Benjamin and Gladys Matta, are of Puerto Rican descent. He is the youngest child of the family and he has three older brothers.
He attended the Maestro Ladislao Martínez High School. He could have been drafted twice before. First, Molina was almost selected by Minnesota Twins’ agent Edwin Rodriguez when he was still in high school. However, Rodriguez decided to not sign Yadier as even though he was very talented, his weak at batting. The second time, when he performed for the Cincinnati Reds at Riverfront Stadium. However, again he wasn’t selected even though he caught the eyes of the executives of the team.
Before being eligible for the MLB draft, Molina played with the Hattilo Tigers, a team based in Puerto Rico. He was selected for the team on his first tryout, the other members of the team were much older than him. He was finally drafted into the MLB by the St. Louis Cardinal in the fourth round of the 2000 MLB draft. He was signed for $325,000 by the Cardinals.
