Background
Founded in 2009 as Dhaka Gladiators, they were meant to play in the National Cricket League T20. However, National Cricket League T20 got replaced by Bangladesh Premier League and the team was sold at US$5.05 million to Europa Group.
Due to many corruption charges on the Europa Group, this team was reacquired in 2015 by Beximco Group. It was then re-named as Dhaka Dynamites by the original owners.

The team was able to bring in Shakib Al Hasan, one of the most expensive and experienced players of the league as the captain of the team in 2013. He was named the player of the series in the previous edition of the tournament. Following the footprints of the 2012 victory, the Gladiators (now Dynamites) won the 2013 edition of the BPL.
In 2015, they were given a new look and Shakib Al Hasan was replaced by Kumar Sangakkara. This team lost the tournament but managed to secure the fourth place out of six in the tournament. Sangakkara ended up as the highest run scorer of the league, with 349 runs from 10 innings.
After an average season, the Dynamites brought back Shakib Al Hasan in the team and also added the likes of Andre Russel, Dwayne Bravo and Mahela Jayawardene among others.
