Alex de Minaur, also popularly known as Speed Demon, was born on February 17, 1999, in Sydney, Australia, to Anibal and Esther de Minaur. He achieved his career-best ranking of World No. 6 in July 2024, and became the first Australian to make it to the world's top 10 since Lleyton Hewitt in 2006.

De Minaur started the 2024 season in fine style at the 2024 United Cup, registering wins against Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, and Taylor Fritz. He then made the final at Rotterdam, before winning the 2024 Mexican Open. De Minaur emerged victorious at the 2024 Libema Open, defeating Sebastian Korda in the final. He finished quarterfinalist at the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final. His best Grand Slam performance of the season was at the 2024 French Open, where he reached the quarterfinals.

Alex De Minaur has won nine ATP titles till date, including the Mexican Open this year. He also reached the final of the Toronto Open in 2023, where he was beaten by Jannik Sinner in straight sets. It was his first Masters final, where he reached by defeating Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev en route. With his win at the 2023 Paris Masters, he became the first person to beat Andy Murray on clay, grass and indoor and outdoor hard courts.

In 2016, he won the Australian Open boys' doubles title with Blake Ellis. Former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt is De Minaur’s mentor and is often seen cheering for him in tournaments.
