Casper Ruud is the highest-ranked Norwegian in history, with a career-high singles ranking of No. 2 in the world, attained on September 12, 2022; his current ranking is No. 7 in the world as of November 2024.

Ruud is a runner-up in three Grand Slams, the 2022 French Open, the 2022 US Open and the 2023 French Open. He defeated Giulio Zeppieri, Zhang Zhizhen and Nicolas Jarry to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open.

In his third major semifinal, Casper Ruud beat Holger Rune in four sets and Alexander Zverev in straight sets before falling to Novak Djokovic. He has won twelve ATP tour singles titles, with the 2024 Geneva Open being the most recent one. At the 2024 Barcelona Open, Ruud won his maiden ATP 500 title, defeating Tsitsipas in straight sets in the final. He has won 100 matches on clay courts, becoming the second person born in 1995 or later to do so, and reclaimed the No. 4 ranking in the world back then.

In the 2024 Miami Open, he advanced to the fourth round and recorded his 100th career win on the hardcourt. He defeated Hubert Hurkacz and top seed Novak Djokovic at the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters to advance to the final; however, he was defeated by Tsitsipas in the final.

Casper Ruud held the top spot in the world as a junior. He reached the 2021 Wimbledon Championships quarterfinals with André Göransson, which propelled him to a career-high doubles ranking of No. 133, though his current ranking is No. 563. Ruud was honoured with the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award in 2022 for his revered on-court conduct. He has started 2024 well, making back-to-back finals in the Mexican swing and winning a title in Geneva.

Ruud achieved a historic milestone by reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the first Norwegian tennis player to do so. This achievement coincided with his 250th career win against Francisco Cerúndolo. With Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev, Ruud booked the final three spots at the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals.
