Daniil Medvedev is an accomplished tennis player who achieved significant success in the sport with his impressive career record. He held the No. 1 spot for a total of 16 weeks and as of September 2024, he is ranked 5th in the world in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

Medvedev has won 20 ATP singles titles in his career, including one Grand Slam and six Masters 1000 titles. He also won the 2020 ATP Finals, defeating Dominic Thiem in the championship match. He defeated Rafael Nadal in the semifinal after recovering from a set-and-break deficit. Medvedev became the first and only player to defeat the top three players in the world at the ATP finals.

Medvedev won three consecutive titles in three weeks, including winning the 2023 Dubai Open, the 2023 ABN AMRO Open, and the 2023 Qatar ExxonMobil Open. He became the first man in the Open Era to win 20 titles in 20 different cities. Medvedev won his first clay title at the 2023 Rome Open, defeating Holger Rune in the final.

Daniil Medvedev started the 2024 season strong, reaching the final of the 2024 Australian Open, where he lost to Jannik Sinner, having led by two sets to love. He became the only man in the Open Era to lose two major finals from a two-set lead. Later in the year, he won the Laver Cup with Team Europe.

At the 2024 Australian Open, Medvedev set the record for spending the most time on court at a Grand Slam and for the most sets played in a singles major, at 31 sets. He reached the final of the 2024 Indian Wells Open. He finished semifinalist at the 2024 Wimbledon Open, registering a win over #1 seed Jannik Sinner in five sets. However, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals. Medvedev recently reached the quarterfinal of the 2024 US Open, where he will be facing Sinner.
