Monfils’s best Grand Slam result includes reaching two major semifinals: the 2008 French Open and the 2016 US Open. At the 2025 ASB Classic, Monfils defeated Zizou Bergs in the final round by 6-3, 6-4, thus becoming the oldest winner on the ATP circuit. Monfils has reached at least one ATP singles final since 2005 and became one of the four players in the Open Era to reach at least one ATP singles final for 19 consecutive seasons.

He competed in the team competition and made his debut at the 2023 Laver Cup for Team Europe. Some of his best results in 2023 include a quarterfinal appearance at the Canadian Open and a round of 16 finish at the Cincinnati Masters, where he lost to eventual champion and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic. He lost to Casper Ruud and Marton Fucsovics in the fourth round of the 2024 Estoril Open respectively. Despite winning one set, Monfils was defeated by Jakub Mensik at the 2024 Qatar Open semifinal. It also included winning the 2023 Stockholm Open and becoming the 11th player to win the trophy twice. With the win, he became the fourth person above the age of 37 to win the title after Roger Federer, Ivo Karlvonic, and Feliciano Lopez.
