Whether one likes her or not, there is no denying that she is a great personality and addition to the WTA. She has also won a doubles major - at the 2024 US Open alongside Lyudmyla Kichenok.

Ostapenko's other notable Grand Slam accomplishments include reaching the final of the 2024 Australian Open in doubles. Former French Open champion Ostapenko, along with Lyudmyla Kichenok, lost to No. 2 Elise Mertens and Hsieh Su-wei by 6-1 and 7-5 in the finals. They won a prize money of $400,000 for finishing runner-up at the tournament. They defeated fourth seed and reigning US Open champion Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski in the semifinals.

When eventual winner Coco Gauff saw that Jelena Ostapenko had upset World No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the 2023 US Open, she wasn't surprised. At the 2024 Linz Open, Ostapenko defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in the championship match to win her second WTA 500 title. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 Italian Open in both the singles and doubles categories. In the 2024 Madrid Open quarterfinals, she and Lyudmyla Kichenok were defeated by Elise Mertens and Hsieh Su-wei's combo. Together with Lyudmyla Kichenok, Ostapenko advanced to the quarterfinals of both the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships and the 2024 Indian Wells Masters.

Who Coaches Jelena Ostapenko?

Jelena Ostapenko is currently coached by her mother, Jelena Jakovļeva, and Stanislav Khmarsky.

In 2017, Ostapenko trained with Anabel Medina Garrigues. At the end of 2017, she parted ways with Medina Garrigues, hiring David Taylor, the veteran trainer of Sam Stosur and Ana Ivanovic, to guide her in the majors, while her mother continued to serve as her primary coach. Ostapenko entered two finals in two weeks and won the title in Luxembourg after forming a trial partnership with 2013 Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli in October 2019. Bartoli announced that Ostapenko would have her as her full-time coach for the entire 2020 season, as their collaboration would continue.

Jelena Ostapenko and Bartoli's collaboration ended during Bartoli’s pregnancy, the COVID-19 hiatus, and the difficult start of Ostapenko’s 2020 season. Ostapenko then started working with Thomas Högstedt, the former coach of Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep, on a trial basis. However, their partnership did not last very long.

In February 2021, after the birth of Ostapenko's daughter in Doha, Bartoli started coaching the player once more. Since then, Ostapenko has been working with Ukrainian coach Stanislav Khmarsky.
