Born on March 28, 1985, in Lausanne, Switzerland, Stan Wawrinka is a Swiss tennis legend, who is ranked No. 109 in singles as of July 2024. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of No. 3 in January 2014, and has won 16 ATP singles and three doubles titles in his career so far.

Representing Switzerland, Wawrinka also won the Olympic gold medal in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Roger Federer. He also played an important role in the Swiss team's victory at the 2014 Davis Cup. He participated in his 70th Grand Slam at the 2024 French Open after winning against Andy Murray in straight sets.

Wawrinka began playing tennis at the age of eight and at 15, he stopped attending regular schooling to focus full-time on the sport. He won the Junior French Open title in 2003 and turned professional in 2002 at the age of 17. He made his grand slam debut at the French Open in 2004.

Swiss tennis star Stan Wawrinka has won three grand slam singles titles in his career as of July 2024. He won all three grand slam titles after defeating the reigning world No. 1 in the championship match.

Wawrinka won his first grand slam title at the Australian Open in 2014, where he defeated then world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in four sets in the final. During his title run, he defeated Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal, in a five-set epic match, and Tomáš Berdych in the semifinal.

Wawrinka's second grand slam title came at the French Open in 2015. He entered the 2015 French Open as the eighth seed. He defeated compatriot Roger Federer in the quarterfinal, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semifinal to reach the final. In the final, he defeated Novak Djokovic in four sets. His victory at the 2015 French Open denied Djokovic from completing the calendar slam.
