Madison Keys is a professional tennis player from America, who was born on February 17, 1995, in Rock Island, Illinois, United States. She achieved her career-high singles ranking of world No. 7, on October 2016, and is ranked No. 14 in the world, by the WTA as of January 2025. Keys won her first WTA singles title at the Eastbourne International in 2014 and has won nine singles titles in her career so far.

Keys started playing tennis at a very young age, after seeing Venus Williams at Wimbledon on TV. When she was ten, she moved to Florida to train at the Evert Tennis Academy. She made her WTA tour debut in 2009, at the age of 14. She won her WTA debut match and became the 7th-youngest player ever to win a WTA tour-level match at the age of 14 years and 48 days.

She sealed a spot in the final of the Australian Open by eliminating No. 2 Iga Swiatek by 5-7, 6-1, 7-6. Keys registered win against Aryna Sabalenka, two-time Australian Open champion, in the final by 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 thus winning her maiden Grand Slam title. She finished semifinalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She became the oldest Australian Open women's singles champion in the Open Era after lifting the title. She won a prize money of A$3,500,000 for winning the title.

Keys lost to Leylah Fernandez in the semifinals of the 2024 Eastbourne International. At the 2024 International de Strasbourg, she won her eighth WTA singles title after defeating Danielle Collins. Keys defeated Jessica Pegula in the 2025 Adelaide International final by 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. At the 2025 ASB Classic, she lost to Clara Tauson in the quarterfinals.

Due to health-related issues, Madison Keys retired after the first set at the Indian Wells in 2023. The incident occurred on March 12, 2023, during her match against world no. 37 Sorana Cirstea. After losing the first set 6-1, Keys took a medical timeout and started feeling nauseous and eventually retired.

Later in an interview, Keys was asked about the health issues she faced during the Indian Wells 2023. She said that she suffered from shingles in her mouth after the Australian Open. As a result, she could not eat anything for three weeks. She was on a completely liquid diet and suffered from food poisoning during Indian Wells 2023.
