3 best high school prospects for Coach Prime in the class of 2027 ft. Trae Taylor
After successfully energizing the Colorado Buffaloes in his debut season last year, "Coach Prime" Deion Sanders is significantly pursuing top high school prospects as he aims to continue reshaping the program. As Sanders looks to build a powerhouse team, here are several high school prospects from the class of 2027 that have emerged as potential targets.
3 high school prospects for Coach Prime for the 2027 class
#3. Trae Taylor
Trae Taylor is a 6-foot-2 high school student quarterback from Carmel Catholic High School in the state of Illinois who is now rapidly catching the eye of college scouts in the 2027 cycle. Moreover, the youngster has been offered by over 20 schools, including Coach Prime's Colorado, Duke, Kansas, NC State, Notre Dame, Stanford, and UCLA.
Taylor's recruitment journey has been active, as he attended a camp at Notre Dame in June. Additionally, Taylor is keen on visiting several other schools, including Michigan, LSU, Purdue, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Illinois, West Virginia, and Iowa.
#2. Thaddeus Thatcher
Thaddeus Thatcher, an additional prospective quarterback, from Arbor View High School, Las Vegas, Nevada, has also attracted the interest of Colorado. Thatcher has already received offers from Coach Prime's Colorado, UNLV, Kansas, Utah, and Washington State.
As the starting quarterback for Arbor View's varsity team in 2023, he accumulated over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in just five games before a broken collarbone sidelined him.
“It was one of the best feelings I've had in sports so far to get that offer,” Thatcher told 247Sports. “My dad is from Colorado, and my grandpa, grandma, aunt and uncle, are all still in Colorado. So there is always a lot of talk about the program and how we all feel this staff is taking Colorado back to its glory days.”
Reflecting on his recovery, Thatcher added,
"I've wanted to be in this position to share my story a bit because all doctors said I wasn't going to play tackle football again and it's driven me to prove everyone wrong. But for any kid who has to go through what I've gone through, I want them to see, 'Hey, this kid did it.. so can I.' That is a very, very strong driving force that not many other people have."
#1. Andre Adams
Andre Adams is a rising quarterback prospect in the class of 2027. Measuring 6-feet-2 and weighing 170 pounds, Adams had 2,002 yards as well as 19 touchdowns last season. He also added 677 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.
As a freshman in Aug. 2023, he led Antioch to an 18-15 win over Cane Ridge, which snapped the school's 22-game losing skid.
Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who watched Adams during Antioch’s spring practice, extended an offer on the spot. Reflecting on the experience, Adams said,
"After that Colorado offer, I was just sitting in the locker room and was like, ‘Dang, this is really starting to jump," Adams said per Main Street Preps.
Besides Coach Prime's Colorado, Adams holds offers from Miami (Ohio), Minnesota, Tennessee State, UT Martin, and Vanderbilt, among others.
