3 major decommitments from the 2025 recruiting class last week ft. CJ Wiley
With less than two months until the early signing period, high school recruiting decisions among top high school football players are becoming increasingly volatile.
Known as "flip season," this period is marked by heightened decommitment activity as players revisit their choices before finalizing their commitments.
Three major decommitments in high school football from the class of 2025 recruiting
#1 CJ Wiley – Wide Receiver
A standout four-star recruit, CJ Wiley, committed to Florida State on Oct 27. Wiley had chosen Florida State over Georgia and LSU four months ago.
However, with the Seminoles facing a challenging season, he decided to pull back his commitment, leaving Florida State without any wide receivers committed to their 2025 class.
As one of the players on the 247Sports 2025 Freaks List, Wiley has produced consistently strong performances, racking up 39 receptions, 677 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season's first nine games.
According to 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks, Wiley brings "big-framed outside receiving target with excellent physical tools."
"He Has shown a more expanded route tree than many receivers at the same stage. Displays consistent ball-tracking acumen on vertical shots. Willing to work the middle of the field. Shows impressive run-after-catch ability."
#2 Marshall Pritchett – Tight End
Marshall Pritchett, a 6-foot-5, 211-pound tight end, flipped his commitment from North Carolina to Alabama on Oct. 22. Rated as the No. 15 tight end and No. 222 overall in the 2025 class, the Rabun Gap, Georgia native made this decision shortly after receiving a scholarship offer from Alabama.
Pritchett had initially committed to North Carolina in March, choosing them over other top schools like Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
Known for his athleticism, Pritchett has shown versatility and high football IQ, transitioning from quarterback to a reliable tight end who excels at gaining yards after the catch.
Through eight games this season, he has recorded 35 catches for 397 yards and five touchdowns. Andrew Ivins, the director of scouting at 247Sports, describes him as an “athletic tight end prospect with quality ball skills:"
"Athletic tight end prospect with quality ball skills that excels as a two-level pass catcher. Started his prep career off playing quarterback before changing positions and moving out wide. … Uses high football IQ to take advantage."
#3 Adrian Wilson – Wide Receiver
Adrian Wilson, a four-star receiver, initially committed to Arizona State but has since flipped to Colorado. The 6-foot, 170-pound Pflugerville, Texas, product ranks as the No. 35 wide receiver in the 2025 class.
After being courted by schools like Oregon and TCU, Wilson eventually decided to commit to Arizona State earlier in his recruitment cycle but shifted to Colorado following a visit to Boulder, where he was hosted by coach Deion Sanders and his team.
Wilson's senior-year stats are impressive: 26 receptions, 601 yards and eight touchdowns over his first eight games, averaging a remarkable 23.1 yards per catch.
