"A great experience seeing how far he’s come": LeBron James' son Bryce James reflects on brother Bronny’s resilience following cardiac arrest

Bryce James' life has been all about having great examples to follow. The 17-year-old son of LA Lakers superstar LeBron James also has a brother who's now on the roster alongside their father.

Furthermore, Bryce doesn't hide his admiration for his brother Bronny, and he expressed this again recently. In a recent episode of Uninterrupted' YouTube show "Top Class Hoops", Bryce said that he has always looked up to his brother.

Bryce was particularly happy about his brother's recovery journey after suffering a cardiac arrest:

"You know, it's a great feeling just knowing that my brother, the journey that he's had, just came that far from the cardiac arrest to all the difficulties that he's had in his college career. It's amazing to see him play with his dad," Bryce said.
"I've always looked up to him; of course, he's my big brother. It was definitely a great experience just seeing how far he's come, like the journey he had to go through, being in the gym with him. It's always a good time. And then off the court, just being around him, being with him, and hearing his name get called. It's all surreal," he added.

Bronny collapsed during a practice session at USC Galen Center after suffering a cardiac arrest on Jul. 24, 2023. The cardiac arrest was later revealed to be a result of a congenital heart defect. The former USC Trojans guard was released from the hospital days later.

He went on to play 25 games for the Trojans in the 2023-24 season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists before going on to the NBA draft. He was subsequently selected with the No. 55 pick in the second round by the Lakers.

Bronny made his Lakers debut in the NBA Summer League on July 6, scoring four points, two assists, two rebounds and one steal as the Lakers lost 108-94 to the Sacramento Kings.

Bryce James is following in his brother and father's steps

Coming from the kind of pedigree he's from, Bryce James undoubtedly has a lot of expectations on his shoulders. Fair to say he's been convincing so far. Just days ago, he impressed in his team's win at the Avance L’Attitude Basketball Classic.

The shooting guard will play his senior high school season at Sierra Canyon as he has his eyes set on college basketball.
