Carlos Boozer's son Cayden Boozer makes a huge prediction for No. 1 ranked AJ Dybantsa’s college commitment
With No. 1 basketball prospect AJ Dybantsa set to announce his college commitment, Cayden Boozer has weighed in on his potential choice. Dybantsa will appear on ESPN’s First Take on Tuesday to announce his choice among his final four programs: Alabama, BYU, North Carolina, and Kansas. Fans have taken to social media platform, Instagram, to make predictions about the imminent commitment. Boozer also weighed in. He wrote:
“Putting the house on BYU.”
Cayden Boozer and AJ Dybantsa are teammates on the USA National Team where they have both featured at the U16 and U17 levels. They camped together in the summer of 2023 before getting named in the USA U16 National Team. They went on to win gold at the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship.
While Cayden and his twin brother, Cameron, have signed with the Duke Blue Devils, Dybantsa has delayed his commitment so far. This is despite having 29 offers per 247Sports. The 17-year-old holds offers from prestigious programs including Kansas, Duke, Alabama, BYU, USC, and Baylor among others.
Which program is likely to secure AJ Dybantsa's commitment?
AJ Dybantsa's college decision has been one of the most anticipated for this recruiting cycle. The small forward out of Utah Prep is the undisputed No. 1 prospect in the 2025 class. This has brought the spotlight not just on him but the programs he's shortlisted.
The 6-ft-9, 210-pound prospect cut down his options to include just BYU, Kansas, UNC, and Alabama. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors the BYU Cougars as the favorites to sign the five-star prospect with a 63.3% probability. The Alabama Crimson Tide are next in the mix with a 16.7% probability of signing Dybantsa. Kansas State is predicted to have a 10.3% chance of landing the top talent while UNC has the least probability of just 2%.
Wherever Dybantsa decides to play, the important thing is the quality he brings on the court. The 2022-23 Gatorade Massachusetts Boys Basketball Player of the Year has consistently shown how much of a difference he can make. Initially a 2026 class prospect, he reclassified after averaging 19.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 blocks as a freshman.
Dybantsa has managed to remain a top prospect over the years by “consistently improving his game at each level.” In addition to his reputation for scoring, he has also shown on multiple occasions how helpful he can be on defense by utilizing his size and fluid movement.
