Five-star USC QB commit Julian Lewis' latest IG activity intensifies Colorado flip rumor
National Signing Day for the 2025 class is just weeks away, and fans are keeping an eye on five-star USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis and his growing interest in Deion Sanders' Colorado. The Buffaloes, looking for a potential replacement for Shedeur Sanders, may have found their next star in Lewis, who also seems to be interested in the opportunity.
Colorado beat Texas Tech 41-27 on Saturday and Lewis liked On3's Hayes Fawcett's Instagram post about the win. While this might not seem like a big deal at first, it’s an unusual move for a USC commit to show such interest in another school's success.
On Sunday, these rumors gained more credibility when 247 Sports’ Tom Loy placed a "CrystalBall" prediction for Lewis to eventually end up at Colorado. If this turns out to be true, Shedeur's wish is going to be granted, as during an interview on Konnxct's YouTube channel months ago, he touted Lewis as his successor:
"I want to be legendary. It will not be able to be redone again, even though Julian, you know, he may be able to take over the reins man."
Lewis, who skipped his senior season to join the 2025 class, is known for his athleticism and leadership at Carrollton High School in Georgia, even if he doesn’t have the most powerful arm.
Colorado holds a 7-2 overall record and 5-1 in the Big 12 under second-year coach Deion Sanders’ leadership. The addition of a talent like Lewis could mark a successful transition for the Buffaloes as Shedeur heads to an NFL future.
Indiana puts an end to its hope for Julian Lewis
Besides Colorado, Indiana was predicted as the other program to flip Julian Lewis from USC. Lewis was supposed to visit Indiana for its game against Michigan last weekend but canceled the trip. He also had a visit scheduled for Indiana’s 56-7 win over Nebraska on Oct. 19, which also didn’t happen.
These back-to-back canceled trips have effectively closed the door on Indiana's possibility of flipping Lewis. 247 Sports' Tom Loy noted:
"At this point, I would say that this probably ends the recruitment between Indiana and Julian Lewis."
Even the Indiana recruiting Instagram page updated that Indiana would no longer be going after Lewis:
"Indiana will no longer recruit 5-star QB in 2025, Julian Lewis. After cancelling two visits to Indiana, we have closed the book on him. He's looking to come in and start as a freshman, and we didn’t guarantee him a starting role from the jump."
Lewis would enjoy the QB1 role in Colorado, but in Indiana, he would have to compete with Tayven Jackson for the starting role next year. Meanwhile, Tyler Cherry and Alberto Mendoza would also be in the room.
