"I just let them talk"- When Colorado flip target Julian Lewis spoke his mind to Coach Prime's son Shedeur Sanders about being dropped to a 4-star

Before the ongoing rave about a potential Julian Lewis flip to Colorado, the five-star quarterback appeared on Shedeur Sanders’ show '2Legendary' in September. The discussion between them touched on Lewis’ recent down-rating from five-star to four-star on some recruiting platform. Shedeur asked how the young prospect got dropped to a four-star. He said:

“I'm not gonna lie it was crazy. You know, they talk about being small and all.” (8:02-8:06)

Shedeur pointed out that being only 16 years old, the sky was the limit for Lewis. The prospect said:

“Yeah those sources, they get their own ideas and stuff. I just let them talk. They can cook, do what they got to do.” (8:33-8:39)

Is the Shedeur Sanders effect pulling Julian Lewis to Colorado?

Since his appearance on Shedeur Sanders’ show, Julian Lewis has gone from being a USC hard commit to a top Colorado target. The Buffs’ interest in him was already well-known at the time of the show, and he'd been to Boulder multiple times during the off-season.

However, recent reports have heavily linked him to a potential flip to Colorado, with Shedeur’s influence written all over the trend.

This influence cannot be overstated, seeing as Shedeur has the biggest NIL valuation in college football. With a $6.2 million value, according to On3, the senior quarterback represents what Williams can achieve under Deion Sanders’ tutelage at Colorado.

NIL opportunities have become a major factor in the decision-making of college prospects. And Shedeur’s model shows how a top talent like Lewis could build a lucrative personal brand.

Notwithstanding, beyond any speculation about influence, the chemistry between the two quarterbacks is evident. In addition to linking up on Shedeur's show, a recent photoshoot shared by Lewis on social media is very symbolic.

Julian Lewis was photographed in a Colorado jersey sitting on a throne while Shedeur Sanders stood beside him, handing over a symbolic key to him. This is being seen by many, including fans and analysts, as a message indicating Lewis’ succession to Shedeur's throne at Boulder.

If the five-star quarterback eventually flips from USC to Colorado, he will become the latest high-profile flip acquired by Deion Sanders.

Sanders, who built the core of his Colorado team on transfers from other programs, has a reputation for flipping top-rated commits. The most famous is No. 1 prospect Travis Hunter, who he flipped from a superior Florida State program to Jackson State in a historic move.
