2025 class prospect Nelson McGuire confirms receiving offer from TCU football

Three-star interior offensive lineman and former Minnesota commit Nelson McGuire is seeing a huge rise in his college football recruiting. Despite spending much of his junior season playing on the defensive side of the ball, he is transitioning to the offensive line and is already turning heads.

In September alone, McGuire earned scholarship offers from Auburn, Vanderbilt and Clemson. Sonny Dykes' TCU became the latest program to make him an offer on Monday. The prospect shared the news on X, formerly Twitter. He tagged Dykes, co-offensive coordinator AJ Ricker and recruiting coordinator Raj Murti:

"#AGTG I’m extremely blessed to receive an offer from @TCUFootball
@CoachSonnyDykes @CoachRickerOL @STATECHAMP_JOE @rajesh_murti @MidloPanthers @coachwendel1 @CoachJonesJr_ @_CoachVincent."

TCU has 24 committed players in the 2025 class. The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 28 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12. Their class is headlined by blue-chip prospects like edge rusher Chad Woodfork, cornerback Micah Strickland, quarterback Adam Schobel, offensive tackle Logan Schram, wide receiver Dane Jones and linebacker Anthony Williams.

Nelson McGuire opens up about his recruitment journey

On June 9, Nelson McGuire committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. However, he decommitted just two weeks later on June 23.

His decision to step back from Minnesota has kept his recruitment wide open as he continues to field offers from multiple programs, including UNLV, Arkansas, Florida, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, SMU, Texas State, UTEP and Boston College.

Despite the pressure that comes with being a top prospect, McGuire remains calm and composed. In an interview with RedRaiderSports, McGuire shared his take on this, saying:

"I feel like I'm handling it really well. I feel like I have some good offers I would like to commit to also, there's some offers I would like to go to school at. I don't feel like it's exactly where I want it to be right now, I want more, better."

McGuire is listed as a four-star prospect in the On3 ranking, which places him as the No. 232 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 14 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 38 recruit in Texas. ESPN also tabs him as the nation's No. 53 interior offensive lineman in the class and the No. 151 recruit in the state.

McGuire is a multisport athlete, playing basketball and competing in track and field. He recorded a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet in spring 2024.
