2026 class three-star recruit Sam Hamilton confirms receiving offer from West Virginia football
Three-star tight end Sam Hamilton is slowly but surely catching the sights of college programs. The 2026 class prospect attends Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Hamilton has offers from Kentucky, Central Michigan, UMass, Kent State, Miami-Ohio, Toledo and East Carolina. Coach Neal Brown's West Virginia was the latest school to join the race for his commitment. Mountaineers tight ends coach Blaine Stewart extended the scholarship, and Sam Hamilton shared the news on Sunday, writing on X:
"After a great conversation with @CoachBlaineStew, I am blessed to earn an offer to @WVUfootball! #GoMountaineers @Coach_B10 @Coach__Finn @CoachGray70 @MoellerFootball @AllenTrieu @GregSmithRivals."
The Mountaineers are coming off a nine-win season, capped by a victory in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. They opened the 2024 season with a tough 34-12 loss to Penn State on Aug. 31 but bounced back with a commanding 49-14 win over Albany on Saturday night.
West Virginia’s recruiting strategy is built around more than just winning games. The school is making a strong push to attract prospects with its state-of-the-art facilities, nutrition programs and an intense strength and conditioning regimen.
The program has two players committed to its 2026 class. In April, three-star linebacker Daiveon Taylor became the first player to commit to the Mountaineers for 2026, followed by four-star quarterback Brodie McWhorter in June.
Brown and his coaching staff are also looking forward to strengthening their recruiting cycles. Besides Hamilton, the program sent offers to multiple tight ends for the 2026 class, including Kendre Harrison, JC Anderson, Brayden Fogle, Javar Bowden, Destin Mitchell and Jackson Ford.
Sam Hamilton kicks off gameday visits
Sam Hamilton made his first gameday visit for the 2024 season when he visited Kentucky for the Wildcats' game against Southern Miss on Aug. 31, which they won 31-0. Notre Dame extended a gameday offer to the prospect, with director of recruiting Caleb Davis personally delivering the news.
Hamilton also confirmed to Irish Sports Daily that he plans to visit Rutgers on Nov. 9 for the school's matchup against Minnesota. He hinted at potential visits to other schools as well, including Ohio State, Coastal Carolina, Michigan and Miami (Ohio).
Hamilton's Archbishop Moeller High School team is currently undefeated at 3-0 following Week 3 of the season. He has had strong showings, including two receptions for 42 yards and one touchdown in Week 1, followed by one reception for 20 yards in Week 2 and three receptions with another touchdown in Week 3.
Sam Hamilton is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 38 tight end in the 2025 class and the No. 36 prospect in Ohio. Rivals places him as the No. 23 recruit in the state.
