2027 class wide receiver prospect Myles McAfee confirms receiving offer from Ryan Day's Ohio State
Myles McAfee, a 2027 class recruit, was in attendance as Ohio State cruised to a 49-14 victory over Marshall on Saturday. This win was due to the dynamic running back duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson.
However, the action on the field wasn't the only headline from the day, as the game also served as a key recruitment event, with several high-profile prospects in attendance.
Four-star wide receiver Myles McAfee, from Archbishop Spalding High School in Washington, D.C., was one of the key visitors to watch Ohio State's massive win. The trip proved fruitful, as the 2027 class prospect also earned an offer from Ryan Day's program during the visit.
McAfee shared the news on X, writing:
"Blessed to receive a offer from Ohio State!!AGTFG IPMFIGF🙏🏿🐑🐧Psalms 37:5 @RocCarmichael @dhglover @EdOBrienCFB @BrianDohn247 @RivalsFriedman @On3sports @Spotlight39_Pod @TheUCReport @adamgorney @247sports @TorreySmithWR @TomLoy247 @kschmittASHS @ChadSimmons_."
This offer is significant for McAfee, who had previously mentioned Ohio State as one of the schools he was eager to hear from.
In a February interview with 247 Sports, he listed Ohio State and LSU as his top choices for future offers. While LSU is yet to extend an offer, the Buckeyes’ interest marks a huge moment in his recruitment.
McAfee wasn’t the only prospect present at the game. Several key Ohio State commits from the 2025 class were also in attendance. This included five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair, four-star interior offensive lineman Jake Cook, four-star tight end Nate Roberts, four-star defensive lineman Jarquez Carter and three-star safety Cody Haddad.
Apart from the 2025 commits, a few 2026 prospects also made appearances, including four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis and four-star linebacker Cincere Johnson. Both of them are yet to announce their pledge to any programs.
Myles McAfee opens up about his tough off-season training
Despite being just a sophomore, Myles McAfee has already earned a four-star ranking from 247 Sports and Rivals. The 247 Sports Composite Ranking places him as the No. 51 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 8 wide receiver in the 2027 class and the No. 1 recruit in Washington, D.C.
McAfee's success can be attributed to his advanced skills as a route-runner, which sets him apart from many of his peers. Transitioning from youth football to varsity-level competition required huge adjustment, but he has embraced the challenge.
"I had to adjust to working even harder," McAfee told 247 Sports. "I've always been a hard worker. But practicing for hours every single day for hours gets tiring. Plus, I still have to do my homework. Those were the main adjustments that I had to make".
Myles McAfee received offers from West Virginia, NC State, Boston College, East Carolina, Charlotte, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Penn State, among others. However, he remains focused on staying grounded, stating that he plans to "put it in God's hands" when it comes to his eventual commitment decision.
