"30 minutes away and he still made a commitment to LSU": NCAAF fans react to LSU commit Bryce Underwood's flip rumors to Michigan
Bryce Underwood, a five-star quarterback and the nation’s top 2025 prospect, committed to LSU in January 2024. However, recent reports suggest the highly-ranked recruit may be re-evaluating his decision, with Michigan's recruitment efforts creating a stir among fans and analysts alike.
As rumors spread about Michigan’s recruiting push, fans have voiced mixed reactions, with some Wolverines supporters confident about potentially landing Underwood and others more pessimistic.
One fan commented:
“30 minutes away and he still made a commitment to LSU??? He had zero intentions of doing anything with Michigan... don’t see that changing.”
Here is how other fans are reacting:
"No.2 overall?????"
"Dave already coping about the OSU vs scUM game this year"
Michigan coach Sherrone Moore is reportedly leading the drive to sway Underwood toward the Wolverines.
Defensive line coach Lou Esposito and general manager Sean Magee, who oversees Michigan’s NIL initiatives, recently attended a Michigan high school football game where Underwood and Michigan defensive line commit Bobby Kanka faced off.
Although the Belleville Tigers (8-1) fell to the undefeated Howell Highlanders (9-0) in the KLAA Championship, Underwood made a strong impression with two rushing touchdowns.
According to Rivals.com's Josh Henschke, Coach Moore has made a “serious push” and Underwood has been “receptive.”
With sources claiming Underwood may feel “torn” about his commitment, Michigan’s NIL backing could be a decisive factor. In response to speculation around a potential $4 million NIL offer from Michigan, Underwood reacted with laughing emojis on Instagram.
Alongside Bryce Underwood, Michigan staffers have also shown support for Kanka, who reaffirmed his Michigan commitment after Jim Harbaugh’s departure to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Bryce Underwood and top-ranked Belleville stunned by Howell, ending three-year winning streak
In a thrilling finish to Michigan’s Week 9 high school football season, No. 1 Belleville fell to No. 9 Howell, marking its first regular-season loss since September 2021.
Howell, ranked third in Division 1, pulled off a 30-29 upset by scoring nine unanswered points in the final five minutes, including a last-second touchdown. With this victory, Howell closed its season with a flawless 9-0 record and claimed the KLAA championship, while Belleville ended at 8-1.
Belleville coach Calvin Norman expressed his disappointment:
"If we were able to move the ball out from there, it might be a different game. But, hats off to them. They did a good job of controlling the game. The players are going to respond all right," Norman said. "The players are hurt. Everybody's hurt right now, it's supposed to hurt after a loss. So, we got to go back to work and do what we do."
Underwood tallied two rushing touchdowns, with Ray-mond Smith Jr. and Andre Thomas Jr. also finding the end zone for Belleville.
Howell’s standout player Jones, who scored three touchdowns, concluded his regular season with 22 total touchdowns. He was aided by teammate Bryce Kish and a safety to secure the team’s perfect season.
