Coach Prime's Colorado Buffaloes flips the commitment of UCF commit Christian Hudson following his 'amazing visit'
Daytona Beach (Florida) Mainland defensive lineman Christian Hudson, a three-star recruit, recently announced he’s flipping his college commitment from the UCF to Deion Sanders-led Colorado.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 280 pounds, Hudson originally committed to UCF in early July. However, the start of fall football led him to re-evaluate his options. On October 11, Hudson made an official visit to Boulder, where he had an impactful experience with the Colorado program.
“My visit was amazing,” Hudson told On3. “It was great getting up there and checking it out for myself."
Hudson’s visit included conversations with head coach Deion Sanders as well as defensive line coach Damione Lewis and assistant coach Devin Rispress. Reflecting on those meetings, Hudson noted:
"They’re all great and really down-to-earth people who care about their student-athletes. A big takeaway was looking at their plan for me. It’s bigger than football more so towards getting a degree and being done in three years.”
Ranked as the No. 445 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, Hudson also holds the No. 41 spot nationally among defensive linemen and is the No. 58 recruit from Florida, according to the On3.
Christian Hudson further highlighted:
"Another thing that stood out is when Coach Rispress took us up the mountains. And of course the game (stood out)."
Colorado adds Christian Hudson to 2025 recruiting class as Buffs aim for a big season
At 6-foot-1 and 285 pounds, Christian Hudson brings strength and versatility to Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class, joining as their ninth commit. As a junior in 2023, he recorded 70 tackles, with 27 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
Andrew Ivins, 247Sports’ recruiting director, sees Hudson as “a potential spark plug in the middle,” acknowledging his unique ability:
“Under 6-foot-1, but finds ways to win with leverage and effort. Initially was viewed by some colleges as an offensive lineman at the next level, but made it clear he wants to chase quarterbacks after racking up nine sacks as an 11th grader. Impressive snap anticipation jolts him forward while active hands allow him to disengage and swipe past would-be blockers."
Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked 52nd nationally and 10th in the Big 12, featuring elite recruits like top offensive tackle Jordan Seaton and highly-ranked athlete Dre’lon Miller.
With 29 commits so far, including four ESPN 300 players, Coach Sanders and the Buffaloes continue to push forward in recruiting. Colorado is hosting other key targets - USC commits Julian Lewis and Carde Smith, at the upcoming Cincinnati game.
