"Colorado now checks all the boxes": Recruiting analyst makes a bold prediction for Deion Sanders' Colorado to flip 5-star USC commit Julian Lewis
A college recruiting analyst has asserted that Deion Sanders’ Colorado has achieved every required factor to successfully flip USC five-star quarterback commit Julian Lewis. On Tuesday, Steve Wiltfong made the assertion while discussing with Josh Newberg on On3's show "Inside Scoop."
“Colorado now checks all the boxes that Julian Lewis is looking for in a school," Wiltfong said. "He obviously had a belief that Colorado could have the season that they're having. Having visited three times in the offseason, including a spring practice, comes back for a game this fall, Colorado being 7-2, having the nation's No. 8 passing offense, No. 11 in passing efficiency. It's an exciting play style to play in. He has an opportunity to be the Day 1 starter at Colorado.” (2:25-2:54)
Will Deion Sanders flip Julian Lewis from USC?
There is a lot of speculation making rounds about the possibility of five-star quarterback Julian Lewis flipping from USC to Colorado. The predictions are not without a basis, as Colorado has been hot on Lewis’ trail for a while. This is despite the high school senior declaring his commitment to Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans since Aug. 2023.
Riley, known for his impressive track record in producing top-quality quarterbacks, seemed a perfect fit for a top QB prospect of the 2025 class. However, other factors have come into play, especially in Colorado, where Shedeur Sanders is spending his last season as the Buffs’ passer. Deion Sanders has reportedly identified Lewis as the suitable replacement, making him a top target for the Buffs.
Consequently, he has been on several visits to Boulder, giving Sanders and his team enough opportunity to convince him.
Sanders has a knack for flipping talents from top programs. Even as a coach in an FCS program, he was able to flip five-star cornerback Travis Hunter from Florida State to Jackson State. It was an unprecedented feat at the time.
Another pointer to Julian Lewis’ potential flip from USC is the effort by the Trojans to flip another five-star quarterback committed to Texas A&M. USC has reportedly diverted attention and efforts towards flipping 247Sports’ No. 4 quarterback Husan Longstreet from Texas A&M. The move is probably a calculated one by the Trojans to replace Lewis in their 2025 recruiting class.
However, Colorado is not the only program working hard to flip the top quarterback prospect from USC. He also has a visit to Georgia scheduled for this weekend.
