Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks set to host the No. 1 TE in the 2025 class for the Maryland game

Five-star tight end Linkon Cure committed to Kansas State on July 1, choosing the Wildcats over Oregon, Kansas and Texas A&M. However, Dan Lanning and his coaching staff are not still giving up on him and the prospect is expected to visit Eugene this Saturday for the Ducks' game against Maryland at Autzen Stadium.

Cure initially expressed hesitation about making the trip and shared with On3's Max Torres that he booked his flight but wasn't entirely certain about attending. However, by Tuesday morning, On3's Steve Wiltfong confirmed that the prospect would indeed be in Eugene for the game.

Linkon Cure is the No. 1 tight end in the 2025 class, the No. 38 overall player overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 recruit in Kansas, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Cure’s status as Kansas' first five-star recruit since Bryce Brown in 2009 makes him a highly sought-after player, and his commitment to Kansas State has been seen as a massive win for the Wildcats. But Oregon’s persistence in recruiting Cure proves the Ducks' strategic push, as it currently lacks a tight end commitment for the 2025 class.

Besides Linkon Cure, Oregon seeks to flip tight end prospects like Vander Ploog from Washington and Andrew Olesh from Michigan as well. The Ducks have offered scholarships to blue-chip tight ends like DaSaahn Brame, Nate Roberts, Kaleb Edwards, AJ la and Ethan Barbour.

Linkon Cure opens up about his upcoming visit to the Oregon Ducks

The Ducks are undefeated this season at 9-0 and Linkon Cure spoke highly of the school ahead of his visit this weekend.

"Everything stands out about Oregon for me," Cure told SI. "What is there not to love, honestly? It’s a great route for me personally for a multitude of reasons and we’ll just have to see how the weekend goes. It’ll be a lot of fun to be around the coaching staff. They are like a family to me."

Oregon’s unique connection to Nike also represents a potential career path for Cure, who is interested in shoe design. He is expected to meet with former Ducks players and representatives from Nike during the upcoming visit to explore his aspirations in the footwear industry.

The Ducks' 2025 class ranks No. 7 in the nation with 15 committed players, including five-star prospects like Dakorien Moore, Trey McNutt and Dallas Wilson. Cure’s visit will help him to evaluate how the Ducks can help him both on the field and with his potential career beyond football.
