“Deion boutta run the Big 12”: CFB fans rejoice as Julian Lewis’ high school teammate sets official visit to Colorado
The Colorado Buffaloes are set to host Alabama wide receiver Caleb Odom, a high school teammate of quarterback signee Julian Lewis, this weekend, according to On3. After just one year at Alabama, Odom is transferring from Tuscaloosa, and Colorado is a prime destination. The idea of his reunion between Odom and Lewis at Boulder has generated reactions from fans on X.
One user sees the move as an indication of Coach Prime and Colorado's domination in the Big 12, writing:
“Damn Deion boutta run the Big 12 like crazy.”
Another fan posted a picture of Lewis and Odom together and wrote:
“boys about to run it back.”
"I knew this would happen. He's reuniting with JuJu Lewis," a fan wrote.
However, another netizen on the platform expressed an opinion completely contrary to the ones above. They wrote:
“People really throwing their careers away going to that institution.”
"Why does everyone wanna go to Texas and Colorado ?" another fan chimed in.
Others disagree, believing Odom is leaving behind a more terrible program.
“Better program than the dumpster fire he left. Good decision," a fan said.
The relationship between Julian Lewis and Caleb Odom
Julian Lewis and Caleb Odom were both on the varsity football team at Carrollton High School in Georgia. Although Odom was a couple of years ahead of Lewis, they partnered in the Trojans’ offense, with Lewis throwing 25 passes to Odom during their two years together.
Initially ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class, Lewis reclassified to finish high school a year early. He entered the 2025 class as a top-10 quarterback, maintaining an undeniable quality that has made him one of the most sought-after high school prospects.
He previously committed to USC in the summer of 2023 before his sophomore season. He stayed true to his pledge to the Trojans, in line to be the next big quarterback protege of the seasoned Lincoln Riley. However, the pull toward Boulder became overwhelming and on Nov. 2024, he flipped.
At Colorado, Julian Lewis is expected to step into the shoes Shedeur Sanders will leave behind when he moves to the NFL. Similarly, Travis Hunter will be heading to the draft next year and Odom is a potential replacement for the two-way star in the Buffs’ offense.
