Former Alabama EDGE commit schedules visit to Tennessee this weekend

Three-star edge rusher Ba'Roc Willis is one of the top recruits in the 2027 class. The prospect out of Moody High School (Alabama) decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide last week and is set to visit the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.

"I’ll be in Knoxville this Saturday 📍," Willis posted on X.

Willis made 95 total tackles in his sophomore season (2024), including 26 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, 38 quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery. It came after a promising freshman season in which he recorded 79 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks.

Willis is the No. 9 edge rusher in the 2027 class, as per the On3 Industry Rankings. He has the potential to make a huge impact on Tennessee's 2027 recruiting class, which has yet to secure its first commitment. He also has received offers from Auburn, Florida State, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Georgia Tech, among others.

Can Alabama secure Ba'Roc Willis' commitment for a second time?

Ba'Roc Willis was committed to Alabama since July before backing off his pledge last week. Despite his decommitment, the Crimson Tide remains a strong contender due to its status as his home-state program.

“Being close to my mom and my family members. That’s always great. I just love that coaching staff. That’s a great coaching staff to be around, as well as the players," Willis told On3 following his initial commitment.

Being just a sophomore, Willis gave his commitment to Alabama earlier than expected, which might have triggered him to reconsider his decision, but the Crimson Tide coaching staff has always been constant in his recruitment.

Outside linebacker coach Christian Robinson and defensive line coach Freddie Roach had led the way in the school's pursuit of Willis, and the prospect also believes in Kalen DeBoer's potential.

“It’s going to be a good program under Coach DeBoer,” Willis said. “I see what he’s trying to do."

On3 still views Alabama as the frontrunner for Willis, giving the Tide a 68.4% chance of reclaiming his commitment. DeBoer has faced criticism for missing out on some in-state talent, but his recent success in landing four-star in-state cornerback Zyan Gibson for the 2026 class suggests he and his staff are determined to keep building momentum.
