"Going to learn how to cheat": Fans react to infamous Michigan staffer Connor Stallions coaching Wolverines' flip target Bryce Underwood
Bryce Underwood's Belleville High School has hired former Michigan assistant coach Connor Stallions, as per CBS Detroit. The controversial coach was previously associated with Mumford High School as their defensive coordinator and later became the team's interim head coach.
Stallions was involved in the Wolverines' sign-stealing scandal last year. Although the investigation is still ongoing, the coach left Michigan and joined Mumford's coaching staff in August 2024.
However, the Belleville Tigers were presented with an opportunity to sign Stallions and they grabbed it with both hands, albeit with some backlash. Fans on social media were perplexed by the hiring and let their feelings be known on an Instagram post announcing the hiring.
"Going to learn how to cheat," a fan commented.
"He works for Michigan even when he’s not," one fan commented on On3's post regarding the hiring.
"Maybe I js need a nap bc wtf is this," another fan wrote.
Michigan is one of the frontrunners in flipping five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who has been committed to LSU since January of this year.
"Stallions will do anything for the University of Michigan," one fan wrote.
"Michigan needs a QB… Stallions… come on… do another one solid for us," another fan wrote.
"Michigan fans gotta give it up.. he’s not flipping," another fan commented.
Connor Stallions will have to do a lot of great work to repair his damaged reputation. Helping a potential Michigan flip target have a great playoff run will certainly do that.
Belleville's head coach Dejuan Rogers talks about Connor Stallions
Connor Stallions, the former Michigan Wolverines assistant, joined the Belleville High School's coaching staff. He began the season with the Michigan-based Mumford High School, but will now coach the No. 1 ranked prospect in the country, Bryce Underwood.
According to CBS News reports, Belleville's head coach, Dejuan Rogers, spoke about the team's latest staffer.
"I called Coach Will (McMichaels) and asked him if he knew of any reliable help that could assist us during the playoffs and he recommended Connor," the head coach said, as per CBS News. "Connor…he’s been a great tool for us in enhancing how we attack opposing defenses."
The Tigers started the postseason with a bang, winning their playoff opener against the Pioneer Pioneers 68-0. They followed that up with a 42-7 win against Saline and will take on Central Catholic High School on Friday, November 15.
